The Victoria and Albert Museum in London is the world's largest museum of decorative arts and design. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. The museum has an extensive collection of decorative arts from Europe, Asia, and the Islamic world, as well as over 2,000 British and European paintings and drawings. The Victorian parts of the museum's architecture have a complex history with additions by different architects, and it was not until 1857 that the museum moved to its present site.
