Audrey Van Luven, senior vice president and chief human resource
officer named Honorary Commander of Delaware National Guard
“I am humbled by this appointment,” said Van
Luven. “I am passionate about supporting our
military. Our active military and our veterans
bring skills and values that can benefit
employers, businesses and industries across the
board. We all should be looking for ways to
advance our military in the workforce.”

Warrior Friendly
Business Award
Over the past two years, Christiana Care has hired
more than 60 veterans. In recognition of this support
for military veterans, the health system received the
Warrior Friendly Business Award from the State of
Delaware, the Northern New Castle County and
Central Delaware Chambers of Commerce, the
Delaware Workforce Investment Board and the ESGR.
The Patriot Award recognizes Christiana Care's support to
employees who serve in the U.S. Military.
The Patriot Award was created by Employer Support for Guard & Reserves (ESGR),
a Department of Defense office, to recognize individuals who provide outstanding
support to employees who serve. According to ESGR, the award “reflects the
efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures
including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for
families and granting leaves of absence, if needed.”
Sgt. Jason Graham of Christiana Care’s Department of Public Safety received the
Patriot Award from the Delaware Employer Support of Guard Reserve (ESGR) in
recognition of his support of military personnel.

Audrey Van Luven, senior vice president and chief human resource officer named Honorary Commander of Delaware National Guard “I am humbled by this appointment,” said Van Luven. “I am passionate about supporting our military. Our active military and our veterans bring skills and values that can benefit employers, businesses and industries across the board. We all should be looking for ways to advance our military in the workforce.” With Van Luven’s leadership, Christiana Care is committed to helping veterans, transitioning service members and military spouses find meaningful employment opportunities.
  • 4. Warrior Friendly Business Award Over the past two years, Christiana Care has hired more than 60 veterans. In recognition of this support for military veterans, the health system received the Warrior Friendly Business Award from the State of Delaware, the Northern New Castle County and Central Delaware Chambers of Commerce, the Delaware Workforce Investment Board and the ESGR.
  • 5. The Patriot Award recognizes Christiana Care's support to employees who serve in the U.S. Military. The Patriot Award was created by Employer Support for Guard & Reserves (ESGR), a Department of Defense office, to recognize individuals who provide outstanding support to employees who serve. According to ESGR, the award “reflects the efforts made to support Citizen Warriors through a wide range of measures including flexible schedules, time off prior to and after deployment, caring for families and granting leaves of absence, if needed.” Sgt. Jason Graham of Christiana Care’s Department of Public Safety received the Patriot Award from the Delaware Employer Support of Guard Reserve (ESGR) in recognition of his support of military personnel.
  • 7. Blake Collins, Director of Clinical Engineering, U.S. Navy Extraordinary People - Having retired from the Navy I fully understand the qualities that Service members bring to the work place. They typically come with a very good work ethic that any department or work group would be thrilled to replicate. Military personnel have been trained to work toward efficiency, ask for guidance when needed, and exercise self-discipline in professional settings. Hiring managers looking to create the exceptional experience should consider military candidates because of their past experience of increased productivity and strong motivation.

Sam Wetherill, Director of Pharmacy Operations, U.S. Army Exceptional Experience – Working for the military has provided me the opportunity to work with people from all over the world in a variety of environments. My experiences have been tremendously beneficial with understanding the unique needs of every patient. Leveraging this experience, we can truly work to provide an exceptional patient experience and advance the Christiana Care Way.
