2. RRTS: Project Overview
RRTS The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) is a
planned rail-based suburban transport network
linking Delhi with neighboring urban hubs like
Alwar, Meerut, and Panipat.
Its primary goals are to offer fast, dependable,
secure, and comfortable transportation options for
the National Capital Region (NCR).
The RRTS aims to notably reduce travel
durations and support the commuter transport
infrastructure of the region.
RRTS differs from metro in that it caters to users
who want to travel significantly greater distances
with fewer halts and at a higher speed.

Transit-Oriented
Development (TOD)
integrates land use and
transportation planning to
foster vibrant, dense, and
pedestrian-friendly
communities around transit
hubs.
Government policies provide
extra development rights in
areas influenced by transit
projects, encouraging diverse
land use for sustainable
urban development.
TOD improves transit
network effectiveness,
convenience, and quality of
life for residents through a
focus on public transit use
and coordinated planning
efforts.
