Introduction
• A V10 engine, often just called a V10, is an
internal combustion engine with 10 cylinders.
• The engine has five cylinders on each side called
banks. The two banks form a "V"-shaped angle
• A V10 engine can be powered by different types
of fuels, including gasoline, diesel and natural
gas.

• Audi RS6 (C6) - 5.0L bi-turbo
• Audi S8 (D3) - 5.2L
• Audi R8 - 5.2L
• BMW M5 (E60) - 5.0L
• BMW M6 (E63/E64) - 5.0L
• Bristol Fighter (Dodge V10)
• Devon GT X (Dodge V10)
• Dodge Viper - 8.0L/8.3L/8.4L
• Dodge Ram 2500/3500 Heavy Duty (pickup trucks)
• Lamborghini Gallardo - 5.0L/5.2L
• Lamborghini Huracán - 5.2L
Comparison
• Advantages
1. Balanced forces :
reciprocating mass
forces are balanced.
2. Less reciprocating mass:
compared with a V12.
• Disadvantages
1. Balancing shafts are
required in order to
eliminate the vertical
moment vibration.
2. Compared to a V8, the
V10 is more complex
with more moving parts,
and consequently is
more expensive to
make.
USES
• The most widespread use of the V10 has been
in Formula One racing
• Alfa Romeo made the first modern Formula
One V10 in 1986.
• V10 seem the best compromise between the
lower weight of a V8 and the higher power of
a V12
