That Belgian squad had 10 players over 30 and the maximum average age of any Euro Cup 2024 team at the competition. A group-stage exit and just one goal at the World Cup put Belgium on course for a restructure.

Coach Domenico Tedesco has managed a tactical shakeup and a regular exit for some of the oldest players. Experienced bests remain, not least the 37-year-old Jan Vertonghen in defense, the 32-year-old De Bruyne himself in midfield, and 31-year-old Romelu Lukaku up visible.
Still, younger actors like De Bruyne’s Manchester City partner Jeremy Doku bring fresh vitality to the team. Euro Cup Germany Qualifying unbeaten with just four goals allowed from eight games was a welcome sign of accomplishment back on track under Tedesco.
The only other squad in Group E besides Belgium to UEFA Euro 2024 qualify unbeaten, Romania was awestruck by winning a group that also checked Switzerland and Israel. Still, Euro 2024 will test a squad sorely lacking in top-level skill.

Psaroudakis: Family and Football – The Psaroudakis Success StoryPsaroudakis
Psaroudakis, a name that resonates with football fans around the globe, is a testament to the powerful synergy between familial support and individual passion. Born on March 10, 1992, in the historic city of Heraklion, Crete, Psaroudakis’ journey to international football stardom is a compelling narrative of dedication, perseverance, and unwavering family support. His story not only highlights his athletic prowess but also underscores the crucial role his family played in shaping his career and character.
Psaroudakis’ early life in Heraklion was deeply influenced by a supportive and nurturing family environment. His father, a former semi-professional footballer, recognized Psaroudakis’ potential from an early age. Acting as his first coach, his father’s guidance was instrumental in igniting Psaroudakis’ passion for football. This paternal influence instilled in him a strong work ethic and fundamental skills that would become the foundation of his future success. His mother, a dedicated homemaker, provided a stable and nurturing environment, ensuring that Psaroudakis could pursue his dreams without any hindrances.
From a young age, Psaroudakis showed an innate talent for football. Growing up in Heraklion, he spent countless hours playing football in local parks and streets with friends and family. His natural ability was evident even in these informal settings, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. By the age of five, Psaroudakis had joined a local youth football club, where his skills began to flourish. His father’s role as his first coach during these formative years was crucial, as he emphasized not only technical skills but also the importance of discipline and teamwork.
The transition from playing in local parks to joining a structured football environment marked a significant step in Psaroudakis’ journey. At the age of ten, he joined the youth academy of OFI Crete, one of Greece’s most esteemed football clubs. This move marked the beginning of a more rigorous and professional approach to his training. The academy environment was demanding, focusing on honing technical abilities and instilling values of sportsmanship and dedication. Psaroudakis’ dedication to his craft was evident as he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a standout player in the youth teams.
The support of Psaroudakis’ family was unwavering during this critical period. His father continued to be a source of guidance and mentorship, while his mother ensured that he had everything he needed to succeed. Their collective efforts created a balanced environment where Psaroudakis could focus entirely on his development as a footballer. This familial support was not just about providing the basics; it was about creating an environment where Psaroudakis felt encouraged and motivated to pursue his dreams relentlessly.
As Psaroudakis transitioned from the youth academy to professional football, the challenges became more significant.

7. A message From UT Tyler President
Michael Tidwell, Ph.D.
Welcome to The University of Texas at Tyler. Thanks for joining us for another exciting year of Patriot Baseball!
Vince Lombardi once said, “Individual commitment to a group effort – that is what makes a team work, a
company work, a society work, a civilization work.”
Our faculty and staff work to consistently promote the benefits of teamwork, cooperation, and leadership
because we want our athletes to experience both individual and team success.
Those efforts have produced some amazing results! Last fall, the 338 Patriot athletes had a cumulative
GPA of 3.15, proving they are extraordinary scholar-athletes. In addition, they can be found leading organizations
around campus, taking honors courses, and working to make The University of Texas at Tyler stronger.
In the 2015-16 season, UT Tyler Patriot teams earned two NCAA Division III national championships and
eight American Southwest Conference championships. Accompanying the many team recognitions were nine
athletic all-America awards, over 100 academic all-conference honors, and four academic all-Americans.
The teamwork and leadership traits exhibited by our student-athletes are prized by the many organizations
who recruit them, upon graduation, to serve as accountants, engineers, psychologists, scientists, and educators.
We are proud to see how the values they learned here help them compete in their careers and contribute to their
communities.
We are also grateful to dedicated supporters like you, who help us build such successful athletic and aca-
demic programs. Thank you for walking alongside us in our mission to help our students be decision-makers who
positively influence this region.
And thank you for supporting another great year of Patriot Baseball!

Brent Porche led UT Tyler to the 2017 American Southwest
Conference regular-season and tournament championships in his
firstseasonastheprogram'sheadcoachwherethePatriotsalso
matched the single-season record for the most wins in a season.
Porche, a Baton Rouge, Louisiana native, leads a program
that has amassed a 454-163 all-time record, seven NCAA
postseason appearances and six American Southwest
Conference Championships since the inaugural 2004 season.
Porche and the Patriots went 39-9 in 2017, including going
21-3 in conference play to run away with the conference's reg-
ular-season championship before sweeping through the confer-
ence tournament that ended with a 6-1 win over ETBU and a
dogpile at Irwin Field. He was named the fourth head baseball
coach in UT Tyler program’s history after amassing a 147-83
record in four seasons at LSU Alexandria where he also served
as athletic director. Porche will enter the 2018 season with a
186-92 career record.
Under Porche's leadership, the Patriots were ranked as
high as No. 3 in the nation. UT Tyler senior Daniel Williams
earned All-America and CoSIDA Academic All-America honors,
while Williams, Trenton Buchhorn, Cody Brown, Ryan Cheatham
and Reese Read earned All-Region honors. UT Tyler's 39 wins in
a season matched the 2009 team that went 39-12. The team

in 2016 were only four shy of the program record set by Porche’s
team in 2015 when they went 39-16.
“I could not be more ex-
cited to become the next head
coach at UT Tyler,” said Porche at
his time of hiring. “The thing that
initially attracts you to UT Tyler is
the world class education and fa-
cilities, but as I went through the
interview process, and had the
opportunity to meet everyone in
the athletic department, the most
attractive part of the job became
the people and the culture that Dr.

ing coach at Northwestern State following four seasons with the
Patriots. UT Tyler is coming off a season where it went 32-19
and advanced to the NCAA tournament after winning the ASC
Championship tournament as the fourth seed. The Patriots had
nine All-ASC selections and saw Trenton Buchhorn and Alex
Bishop earn ABCA/Rawlings All-Region honors.
“The expectations of this baseball program are very high and we
willwelcomethoseexpectations,”Porchesaid.“Wewillcontinue
to put a hard-nosed product on the field and be active members
of the campus and Tyler community. I cannot thank Dr. Patter-
son and the committee enough for trusting me to lead our Patri-

A graduate of LSU-Shreveport where he was a four-year
letterman for head coach Rocke Musgraves and a two-time Ac-
ademic All-Gulf Coast Athletic Conference selection, Porche
would go on to earn a Masters of Science in Kinesiology with a
concentrationinSportsPerformancefromLouisianaTechin2011.
While at Louisiana Tech, Porche worked as an assistant coach
for head coach Wade Simoneaux from 2010-12 where he was
responsible for development of pitchers and catchers, strength
and conditioning with pitchers, on-campus recruiting, scouting
report, field maintenance and also assisted with promotions and
marketing. His collegiate career began at his alma mater where
he coached with Musgrave and Bertrand from 2008-10 in
Shreveport. As an assistant with the Pilots, Porche worked with
catchers and outfielders, was the strength and conditioning co-
ordinator, assisted in recruiting and organized and promoted
camps.
“We are glad to welcome coach Porche to the Patriot Ath-
letic Team,” said Dr. Howard Patterson, Vice President for Stu-
dent Affairs at the time of his hiring. “He brings a wealth of
knowledge, experience, and passion for the game of baseball
and is a player's coach in every sense of the term. Coach Porche
will be able to build upon the rich baseball history and traditions
and we are excited to have him with us.”
Porche began his collegiate career as a walk on at
Louisiana Tech prior to transferring to LSUS. During his four sea-
sons in Shreveport, Porche helped LSUS to three consecutive

came in the summer of 2007 and 2008, assisting Bertrand with
the Gametime Academy Angels 18U. The Angels notched back-
to-back quarterfinal appearances in the Premier Baseball World
Championships while totaling four tournament titles.
He is married to the former Crystal Jones of Bossier City,
an Elementary School Teacher in Rapides Parish. Brent and Crys-
tal have two sons, Braiden (5) and Owen (1).
“My wife Crystal, our two boys and I are excited about
becoming part of the UT Tyler family,” Porche said. “I am look-
ing forward to working with the coaching staff and student-ath-
letes to continue the championship tradition at UT Tyler, in the
classroom, in the Tyler community and on the field.”

Erik Grafton enters his sixth season as an assistant coach for the UT
Tyler Patriots, including four seasons in which he helped lead the Patriots to
the American Southwest Conference Championships.
In his two seasons as recruiting coordinator, Coach Grafton is responsi-
ble for bringing in 23 All-Conference and 8 All-Region performers, as well as
1 All-American, the programs first since 2013. He led a 2017 Patriot offense
that boasted a .321 team batting average, scoring 338 runs, 7+ per game
and tutored a sure handed Patriot Infield that turned a school record 49 dou-
ble plays.
“The work Coach Grafton does in recruiting to get phenomenal talent in

“Coach Grafton earned my respect before I even had the job here at UT
Tyler,” Said Coach Porche. “I saw the work he was doing from afar and was
able to spend some time talking with him throughout the hiring process. I
knew instantly that he was the right man for the job. His tireless work ethic
and attention to detail help to keep our day to day operations of the program
running smoothly and up to the standard that we expect. He has done a great
job of recruiting this very talented ball club and is always looking for ways to
be better at what he does.”
Grafton,agraduateofHendrixCollege,letteredthreeyearsfortheWar-
riors as a catcher and an infielder. In 2007, he was named to the All-Acade-
mic Team in the Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference. In 2011, Grafton
finished his Master's degree at the University of Central Arkansas and was a
volunteer assistant with the UCA Baseball team.
Prior to UT Tyler, Grafton was an assistant coach with the Conway High
School baseball team in Arkansas and a private baseball and softball instruc-
tor in Martin, Tennessee.
Erik Grafton - Assistant Coach Recruiting Coordinator
Cade Bowen is entering his third season as the UT Tyler pitching
coach. He served last season under former Head Coach Chris Bertrand in the
same capacity.
Bowen’s 2016 staff locked down opposing offenses only giving up
168 earned runs in 417.2 innings pitched for a 3.62 ERA, and holding them
to a .243 avg. against while striking out 346 batters and only walking 175.
He played a crucial role in the development of All-Conference performers
Cody Brown, Ryan Cheatham, Cason Adams, Reese Read and Miles Thomas.
Brown and Cheatham would also be honored as members of All-Region
Teams and Cody Brown would sign a professional baseball contract after the
season with the Utica Unicorns of the United Shore Professional Baseball
League.
“Coach Bowen does an unbelievable job of developing our pitchers
mentally and physically to be successful,” said Porche. “Those guys
down in that bullpen trust him and his ability to get them game ready,
and I wouldn’t want anyone else in charge of our pitchers and their
development.”
Bowen joins the program after two seasons on the LSU Shreveport
coaching staff, where he also pitched for the Pilots in 2011. As a senior,
Bowen made 25 appearances and posted a 2.12 ERA, striking out 38 in
only 29.2 innings of work.
“I am very excited to watch Cade and his work with our pitching
staff,” Said Coach Porche. “We have learned from and been around a lot of
the same people, and branch from the same coaching tree starting at LSUS.
I know the type of competitor Cade was as a player, and am excited about
watching the development of our pitchers as they are immersed in that same
competitive culture working with him every day.”

Wade Pope - Assistant Coach
2018 Baseball Media Guide www.UTTylerPatriots.com
Wade Pope is in his fifth season as an Assistant Baseball coach with
the UT Tyler baseball program. Pope’s focus is on helping to develop catch-
ers, while serving as the Patriots Bench coach helping with game man-
agement and personal throughout the season.
“Coach Pope does a tremendous job of tutoring our catchers and is
invaluable to me during games in his role in assisting me with in game
management,” Said Porche. “He also does a tremendous job of making
Irwin Field one of the best playing surfaces in the country.”
Pope, who hails from Carthage, Mississippi and played college base-
ball at Dana College, came to UT Tyler from UT Brownsville, where he served
as the pitching coach for the Scorpions. While in Brownsville, Pope would
also worked with the catchers, coached first base and helped to lead the
team regional berths in 2010 and 2011.
“It’s exciting for me to come into a great situation, the facilities that
are already in place and the teams and coaches that compete on them are
all first class,” said Pope. “We are fortunate to have someone with Wade’s
experience being a part of championship programs. Programs that compete
at the highest level have many things in common,” Says Coach Porche.
“Our program can only benefit from the experience that Wade has gathered
being a part of that kind of winning.”
Before moving to Texas, Pope served as an assistant coach at Dana
College (2005-2006), and Bellevue (2007-2009) University in Nebraska,
where he served as the Pitching Coach. Bellevue won threw regional and

“It is always exciting to have players that have grown up in a pro-
gram that want to get into the coaching profession.” Says Porche about
Coach Lane. “Sam is here for the right reasons. He works hard to make
our guys better, and adds value to our staff with the experience he has as
a player in the ASC and in Division III baseball. I couldn’t be happier with
the job he has done. He has a bright future in this profession.”
A Plano native, Lane will be in charge of outfield development and assist
with hitters.

nication and psychology. He is currently pursuing his master’s degree of sci-
ence in health and human performance with a concentration in health

“I couldn’t be more excited to continue being in the same dugout as
Kody” Said Porche. “He was such a huge part of what we did at LSUA,
and to have someone on staff who knows the program we are trying to im-
plement and the expectation that we have for each other as coaches the
players in our program is invaluable. Kody and I have been discussing his
desire to get into the coaching profession since he was a freshman in our
program at LSUA. I’m very excited about the opportunity for us to continue
to work together.”

gram include working with the outfielders, coaching first base, as well as
