Euro 2024 Belgium's Rebirth the New Generation Match the Golden Era.docxEticketing.co
The Golden Group is over. Can a new group step up? Two years ago, Kevin De Bruyne plunged Belgium’s Euro 2024 plans into disorder when he claimed the team was “too old” to win in an interview with The Protector. That Belgian squad had 10 players over 30 and the maximum average age of any Euro Cup 2024 team at the competition. A group-stage exit and just one goal at the World Cup put Belgium on course for a restructure.

Coach Domenico Tedesco has managed a tactical shakeup and a regular exit for some of the oldest players. Experienced bests remain, not least the 37-year-old Jan Vertonghen in defense, the 32-year-old De Bruyne himself in midfield, and 31-year-old Romelu Lukaku up visible.
Still, younger actors like De Bruyne’s Manchester City partner Jeremy Doku bring fresh vitality to the team. Euro Cup Germany Qualifying unbeaten with just four goals allowed from eight games was a welcome sign of accomplishment back on track under Tedesco.
The only other squad in Group E besides Belgium to UEFA Euro 2024 qualify unbeaten, Romania was awestruck by winning a group that also checked Switzerland and Israel. Still, Euro 2024 will test a squad sorely lacking in top-level skill.

Psaroudakis: Family and Football – The Psaroudakis Success StoryPsaroudakis
Psaroudakis, a name that resonates with football fans around the globe, is a testament to the powerful synergy between familial support and individual passion. Born on March 10, 1992, in the historic city of Heraklion, Crete, Psaroudakis’ journey to international football stardom is a compelling narrative of dedication, perseverance, and unwavering family support. His story not only highlights his athletic prowess but also underscores the crucial role his family played in shaping his career and character.
Psaroudakis’ early life in Heraklion was deeply influenced by a supportive and nurturing family environment. His father, a former semi-professional footballer, recognized Psaroudakis’ potential from an early age. Acting as his first coach, his father’s guidance was instrumental in igniting Psaroudakis’ passion for football. This paternal influence instilled in him a strong work ethic and fundamental skills that would become the foundation of his future success. His mother, a dedicated homemaker, provided a stable and nurturing environment, ensuring that Psaroudakis could pursue his dreams without any hindrances.
From a young age, Psaroudakis showed an innate talent for football. Growing up in Heraklion, he spent countless hours playing football in local parks and streets with friends and family. His natural ability was evident even in these informal settings, and his enthusiasm for the game was infectious. By the age of five, Psaroudakis had joined a local youth football club, where his skills began to flourish. His father’s role as his first coach during these formative years was crucial, as he emphasized not only technical skills but also the importance of discipline and teamwork.
The transition from playing in local parks to joining a structured football environment marked a significant step in Psaroudakis’ journey. At the age of ten, he joined the youth academy of OFI Crete, one of Greece’s most esteemed football clubs. This move marked the beginning of a more rigorous and professional approach to his training. The academy environment was demanding, focusing on honing technical abilities and instilling values of sportsmanship and dedication. Psaroudakis’ dedication to his craft was evident as he quickly rose through the ranks, becoming a standout player in the youth teams.
The support of Psaroudakis’ family was unwavering during this critical period. His father continued to be a source of guidance and mentorship, while his mother ensured that he had everything he needed to succeed. Their collective efforts created a balanced environment where Psaroudakis could focus entirely on his development as a footballer. This familial support was not just about providing the basics; it was about creating an environment where Psaroudakis felt encouraged and motivated to pursue his dreams relentlessly.
As Psaroudakis transitioned from the youth academy to professional football, the challenges became more significant.

“Bronchos” was the nickname selected for Central Oklahoma in 1922 by Mrs. C.W. Wantland, wife of long-time
UCO football coach C.W. Wantland. It was chosen from a number of suggestions for the name of UCO’s football team
and became the nickname for all athletic teams at the school.
Mrs. Wantland was made an honorary member of the Letterman’s Club as a result of selecting the nickname, becom-
ing the first woman admitted to that organization.

Edgar Miraku is in his fifth year at the Central Oklahoma helm, return-
ing to the school where he served as an assistant coach and earned two
degrees before embarking on a sensational high school career.
Miraku is 96-38 in four years with the Bronchos, going 13-18 in 2012
when UCO started competing in the rugged Mid-America Intercollegiate
Athletics Association. Miraku led UCO to a 24-10 record in 2013, and a
28-5 record in 2014 before putting it all together with the school’s first
MIAA Championship in 2015, going 31-5, the second-best record in school history.
The Bronchos were an impressive 15-1 at home and 16-2 in conference play and finished

in 2008 before winning back-to-back titles in 2009 and ‘10, go-
ing a combined 62-8 those two years. Memorial finished 25-9
and made it to the state tournament semifinals in 2011.
Miraku played professionally in his native Albania for four
years and was a member of the Albanian Junior National Team
from 1992-95.
Edgar came to the United States in 1995 and immediately
joined the UCO program. He served as a student assistant,
graduate assistant and volunteer assistant for five years while
earning both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees, with the Bronchos going127-75 during
that span.
Miraku has coached several club teams during his career, including a lengthy stint with
the Oklahoma Peak Performance (OP2) junior club team. He led OP2 to a 58-18 record
and fifth-place national finish in 2002-03, with the 2009 team finishing third in the nation.
Miraku has also been involved for many years with the U.S. Men’s Sitting National Team

seasOn OUtlOOk
Keep getting better and better. That’s what fifth-
year coach Edgar Miraku says the UCO Bronchos
need to do to continue the rise he has set the team
on since 2012.
UCO has improved in each of the last four
years under Miraku, who returns eight players
from a team that last year finished first place in
one of the toughest conferences in the county, the
Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Associa-
tion.
“The league as a whole is always a tough, rug-
ged MIAA, a lot of good teams,” Miraku said.
“I don’t expect anything new or different for this
year.”
At the forefront of the eight returning players,
are four seniors. Katy Davis, a setter, is a return-
ing All-American, and Allison Barr, a middle
blocker, Bonnie Vernon, a defensive specialist
and outside hitter, and lastly, Mikayla Bangasser,
also a defensive specialist.
Those four seniors have had a big impact dur-
ing their time with UCO and Miraku says that
will continue this year.
“The four seniors are special,” Miraku said.
“They all have played and contributed to our
team’s successes in the previous three seasons. So
we’re expecting good contribution from them.”
A position breakdown of the Bronchos.
OUtside Hitter
Taylor Bevis headlines a group of versatile
players. Bevis brought the MIAA Freshman of the
Year award to UCO last year.
Alexis Washington and Lyndsey Becker are
newcomers that will each get an opportunity to to
play. And Vernon as a senior will also see time.
Coach Miraku says: “A lot of pressure there
(for Bevis) but I think Taylor will be doing great.
She handles it well, she was amazaing last year. I
think her experience got a lot better.”
riGHt-side Hitter
The right side is a mix of young players and
newcomers for UCO. Imeoma Njenje will get an
opportunity on the right with sophomore Eliza-
beth Boyd and senior transfer Fulani Petties.
Miraku says: “Njenje is somebody we have
high expectations for. She has great athleticsim
and we are expecting great things. Fulani is a
multi-position player who can bring energy to the
team. Elizabeth is a great player.”
Middler blOCker
Barr is the team captain and Miraku can’t say
enough about her impact on the Bronchos.
She has a high volleyball IQ and provides
leadership on the team that will benefit from hav-
ing her as one of the mainstays in the middle this
season.
Jordan Spence returns as a sophomore who
played valuable minutes in the middle last year.
She was a first-team All-MIAA selection who
ranked third in the league in hitting percentage
(.329) and fifth in total blocks (124), both team
highs.
Miraku says: “Ally is great. She isn’t going
to make any mistakes, she’s just consistent with
what she does. Jordan, had a great freshman year.
And Fulani and Alexis can play in the middle
too.”
liberO/deFensiVe sPeCialist
Mikayla Bangasser and Bonnie Vernon look to
hold it down for the Bronchos in the back. The
pair were third and fourth on the team last season
outside of the libero position and could be candi-
dates to slide into that role this season.
Dominique Lipari and Mehana Fonseca are
both freshman who will get an opportunity to
prove themselves.
The battle for libero is wide open, but any of
these defensive specialists could settle into that
role.
Miraku says: “We have two returners who
know the system well. Then we have two fresh-
man who will all battle for that position.”
setter
Davis led the team in so many different ways as
a junior on her way to earning an All-American
nod and she’ll be a primary setter for the Bron-
chos after playing in every set for the past two
seasons.
Petties and newcomer McKenzie Fyfe will also
work at the position.
Miraku says: “Katy is our floor captain and the
list goes with the awards she’s won. With Fulani,
chemistry with a new team is everything. McKen-
zie, we definitely feel she has the potential.”

The tide keeps rising at Central Oklahoma under
the leadership of Edgar Miraku, who recevied his
second-straight MIAA Coach of the Year award.
2014 saw a record start, a solid season with a
handful of All-MIAA recipients. 2015 was even
better.
UCO opened the season winning all
four of its contests at the Maryville In-
vitational before winning three of four
in the South Florida Classic.
The Bronchos finished their MIAA
schedule with a 16-2 record to win UCO
its first conference title since joining the
rugged league in 2012.
UCO dispatched its first two opponents
in the MIAA Tournament, which the
Bronchos hosted, before falling in the
championship match.
Miraku and Co. then moved on in the postsea-
son and traveled to St. Pual, Minn. in the NCAA
Division II Central Regional.
After knocking off conference foe Nebraska-
Kearney in the opening round, the Bronchos
2015 seasOn reView
tremendous season came to an end to No. 1
ranked Concordia-St. Paul.
The Bronchos were once again led by Bar-
bara Jackson. The reigning MIAA Player of
the Year led the team in kills (427) and aces
(24) on her way to another first-team all league
selection.
Jackson, along with Taylor Bevis,
Jordan Spence, Katy Davs and Whitney
Gifford took home first-team All-MIAA
honors.Allison Barr landed on the second
team and Bonnie Vernon was honorable
mention.
Bevis also earned the award for MIAA
Freshman of the Year.
The Wichita, Kan. native settled in to
a prominent role as an outside hitter for
Miraku and finished the season just shy of
400 kills with 396, which was good for second
on the team behind Jackson.
The Bronchos put together win streaks of
16 and 10 in 2015, solidifying one of the best
seasons in school history.

Central Oklahoma plays its home
volleyball matches in Hamilton Field
House, which opened its doors in 1965.
The Bronchos have an impressive 246-
89 record (73.1 winning percentage) at
Hamilton Field House, including a 40-15
mark under fifth-year head coach Edgar
Miraku.
Hamilton Field House was re-named
from Broncho Field House on May 1,
1993 in honor of longtime coach and
athletic director Dale Hamilton, who
helped design the building in the 1960s.
The 3,000-seat facility underwent
renovation in the summer of 2001 with
the installation of individual chairback
seats on the floor and LED boards ca-
pable of showing live statistics were
added five years ago.
Hamilton Field House also serves as the home for UCO’s wrestling team in addition to the men’s and women’s
basketball squads.
Numerous other events, including the university’s graduation ceremonies, are also held in the building.
