USU has various research and technical assistance activities in multiple African countries focused on water, agriculture, and rangeland management. Current projects include a livestock collaborative research program in Ethiopia and Kenya working with pastoralists, as well as irrigation projects in Burkina Faso, Senegal, Mali, Mauritania and Guinea. USU is also developing educational partnerships with Mali and considering partnering with a project to restore Gorongosa National Park in Mozambique and use it to drive local economic development.
