WATCHES
María Lorenzo Bayo 1ºBach. B
In our society, wathces are very usual objects,
everybody has watches but not everybody wears
them. There are all types of watches: digital
watches, analogical watches... and we can find
them in diferents colours and forms. There are
expensives watches and cheap watches, big or
small watches, beautiful and ugly watches... Each
one can choose his or her favourite and personal
watch.
Since the human began to became civilizated, one
of the things that had they preocupated was the
hour. They invented the days, the months and the
hour too. It's one of the most necessary things, get
organize the life, the days and the nights. The first
methods to control the hour weren't such as todays
methods. One of the fist way for know the hour was
the sun clock and after, the sand clock.
Sun clock Sand clock
The techniques were becaming betters and moderns
along the history. After sand and sun clocks, was
invented clocks as we have today but for the history
of watches, we have to be centrated in pocket
watches. The people could wear clocks and know
the hour always they needed it but watches hadn't
been invented yet so they wore them into their
pockets.
Pocket watch
The history of watches is the following: the aircraft
pilots tried to put their clocks in their legs and arms
with ropes because they needed the time for
distances, fuel, calculate routes...
After this, watches started to be popular and day by
day watches began to improve to watches as we
know them now.
Here, in this
picture, we
can see the
differents parts
of watches.
These are some curiosities about watches:
-Peter Dimitrov Petroff was the inventor of digital
watches.
-Before I world war, watches were considerated
women's accesories.
-The watche used in the first trip to the moon
was an Omega Speedmaster.
-In 1953, when Sir Edmund Hilary was the first
human who got the top of Everest, he wore a
Rolex Oyster.
-Analog watches are usually be marketed with
the hour 10:09 or 10:10.
We don't know what is going to happen in the
future, but we can imagine it. Watches such as
tecnological invent will improve. I don't know how
we can improve a watch, but for example, we
could imagine an 3D watch. In this watch, the hour
could be shown over the cristal with differents
colours or music for childrens or it could be in
black and white and more seriously for adults.
I could imagine a singer watch too. This watch
could sing the hour with the music that you
choose.
Today we can find very modern watches, for
example, some companies have created watches
similar to mobile phones without calls. You can
play games, search in internet, send messages
and all of this in your wrist! That's incredible.
Watches are one of the most popular invention
whatever created and our life surely be a chaos.
