The passage discusses tafseer, or Qur'anic interpretation. It notes that understanding of the Qur'an can vary between individuals due to differences in intelligence, and that some meanings were only explained by God to the Prophet Muhammad. The science of tafseer aims to elucidate the Qur'an's meanings for believers to apply in their lives. The passage provides context on the early history and development of tafseer as a field of Islamic scholarship.

About this Book
This short treatise on ‘Aqida (Islamic theology) written by Imam
Tahawi though small in size, is a basic text for all times, listing
what a Muslim must know and believe.
The importance of this text lies in the fact that it corroborates
the views of Imam Abu Hanifa, the founder of the Hanafi school
of jurisprudence, that have come down to us from different
sources. Imam Tahawi summarizes the views of the great
Imam and shows that they were in conformity with the
traditional views of the orthodox school.
The doctrines enumerated in this work are entirely derived from
the undisputed primary sources of religion, the Qur’an and the
confirmed Hadith.
This text, representative of the viewpoint of Ahl al-Sunna wal-
Jam&a, has long been the most widely acclaimed, and indeed
indispensable, reference work on Muslim beliefs.

THE CONTENT of CHARACTER ETHICAL SAYINGS OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD Shaykh Al-Amin Ali Mazrui Translation and Introduction by Hamza Yusuf
As a scholar, shaykh al-amin mazrui attempted to be a bridge between Islam and modernity. He argued that while Christianity became the vanguard of progress when it became more secular and less Christian, Islam was the vanguard of progress when it was more Islamic and less secular. According to shaykh al-amin, progress among Muslims required not the abandonment of Islam but the recovery of the original spirit of Islamic enlightenment, shaykh al-amin’S choice of these favored sayings of the Prophet ft in Thr Content of Character—translated and introduced here by the well-known American scholar hamza yusuf—was influenced by his effort to be a bridge-builder, especially between the values of tradition and the norms of modernity, between the wisdom of religion and the compassion of humanity.
The Kitāb al-aghāliṭ (The Book of Errors) by Abū ‘Abd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī (d. 412/1021)
elucidates a number of errors in both thought and practice that a traveler of the Sufi path might
fall into. This study presents a critical edition of the Arabic text of Kitāb al-Aghāliṭ produced from
four manuscripts (three of which were previously uncatalogued), a detailed synopsis of the book,
and addresses questions of authorship and the relationship between Kitāb al-aghāliṭ and the
Kitāb al-luma‘ of Abu’l Naṣr al-Sarrāj (d. 378/988). The main manuscript used in forming the
critical edition treats the Kitāb al-aghāliṭ as a section of another Sulamī work previously thought
lost – Miḥan mashāyikh al-ṣufīyah (The Trials of the Sufi Masters) – a critical edition of which is
included as an appendix.

By Bilal Philips. Commentaries on Soorahs al-Ikhlaas, al-Falaq and an-Naas. This Tafseer contains a far greater depth of understanding due to the number of other classical and contemporary commentaries used like al-Qurtubee’s al-Jaami‘ li Ahkaam al-Qur’aan, Ibn al-Qayyim’s Compilations, ash-Shawkaanee’s Fat’h al-Qadeer, ash-Shanqeetee’s Adwaa ul-Bayaan, as-Sa‘dee’s Tayseer al-Kareem ar-Rahmaan, and Al ‘Uthaymeen’s Tafseer al-Qur’aan al-Kareem.
A book from Syeikh Imran Nazar Hosein
I began my study of Gog and Magog more than fifteen years ago in the early 90’s while resident in New York. My subsequent public lectures on the subject never failed to provoke keen interest from my Muslim audiences in several parts of the world. The evidence and arguments presented in the chapter on Gog and Magog in my book, ‘Jerusalem in the Qur’an’, succeeded in convincing many who read the book that we now live in a world dominated by Gog and Magog. They were easily convinced that the ‘town’ mentioned in the Qur’ān in Sūrah al-Anbiyāh’ (21:95-6) was Jerusalem and hence, that Gog and Magog (and Dajjāl) explained the ominously unfolding ‘war on Islam’ with slaughter and destruction of Muslims in so many parts of the world. As a consequence, such readers also understood Israel’s mysterious imperial agenda, and many have been making efforts to extricate themselves and their families from the embrace of Gog and Magog – an embrace that will take 999 out of every 1000 of mankind into the hellfire.
Despite my best efforts, however, I failed miserably, again and again, to convince my learned peers, the scholars of Islam, that Gog and Magog were even released into the world. I earnestly hope and pray that this book might make a difference Insha’ Allah.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.

2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.
