Expressing opinions requires agreeing or disagreeing with others in an appropriate manner. To express opinions situationally appropriate, one must formulate perspectives and discuss disagreeable subjects using identifying language that avoids offense. Examples show different patterns for agreeing or disagreeing depending on how an opinion statement is phrased, such as responding "Me too!" to agree with a statement of personal preference but providing counterarguments to disagree with generalizations.
