Honda has been a pioneer in developing fuel cell and electric vehicles. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Honda unveiled several prototype electric vehicles powered by hydrogen fuel cells. These fuel cell vehicles emitted no harmful emissions. Honda continued advancing this technology, releasing more powerful and efficient fuel cell stacks and vehicles over the next decade, including the FCX Clarity. The FCX Clarity featured several improvements over previous Honda fuel cell vehicles and was the first vehicle to use plant-based interior materials. While still in development, Honda's fuel cell vehicles may represent the future of transportation as the technology advances.
