Although Michael Phelps broke the record for most Olympic gold medals won, this document argues that Usain Bolt's accomplishments are more impressive based on scientific facts, biomechanical analysis, and the history of swimming and sprinting. Bolt set world records in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m relay that had stood for decades, facing outdoor conditions without the advantages of new pool and suit technologies that aided Phelps.
