USA Hockey's officiating registration for the 2015-2016 season begins on August 3, 2015. The process requires obtaining USA Hockey membership online at USAHockey.com. Upon registering, officials receive rulebooks to study for an open book exam. They must also complete SafeSport training on preventing abuse and take online education modules with videos and tests on officiating fundamentals before taking the open book exam. Passing allows entry to the final officiating seminar to complete the registration.

2. Introduction
• A former Inspector of the Port Authority of New York &
New Jersey Police Department, Nicholas Tagarelli joined
Navillus Health in 2014 as security director. In addition
to this role, he serves on the committee of the
Branchburg Township Board of Adjustments. Outside of
work, Nicholas Tagarelli maintains an interest in ice
hockey, and he looks to become a USA Hockey official.

• Officiating members receive a copy of the playing rules
and casebook upon registration to prepare for the online
open book exam.
Thereafter, officials must complete the United States
Olympic Committee SafeSport training program to learn
how to identify and prevent harmful actions. Officials
also complete online education modules that utilize
videos and knowledge-based testing to instill the
fundamentals of officiating. Members then take the open
book exam at their own pace. Passing the exam gives
USA Hockey officials entry into the officiating seminar,
the last step to finalizing registration.
