The Open Access Users Association (OAUA) was formed in 2012 to create a forum for open access electricity consumers. OAUA aims to increase awareness of open access charges in different states and address safety, security, and commercial issues for open access consumers. Currently, the state of Uttar Pradesh only allows intra-state open access and the tariffs are too high, causing many industries to close down or relocate. The State Load Dispatch Center often rejects open access applications. Uttar Pradesh has higher retail electricity tariffs than other northern states. There are margins available for open access consumers during some months but not others due to transmission constraints. OAUA invites open access consumers to provide their perspectives.
