1) Many publishers and content providers exhibited new products and services at the Online 2005 conference, including major enhancements to databases, new journals, and expanded ebook collections. 2) Trends in 2006 included growth in electronic reference content and open access initiatives, as well as new journals, blogs, RSS feeds and online sales increases. 3) A new reference book on using the engineering literature was released in 2006.

I’m based at Heriot Watt University in Edinburgh, where I’m Senior Subject Librarian, and I manage a service called TechXtra, which I’ll mention briefly later, and I also edit the Internet Resources Newsletter which I hope some of you may have heard of.
