Small close range drones could provide two main tactical advantages for police teams in Mexico: enhancing vision capacity while keeping officers out of vulnerable positions. The document discusses experiences using small drones for reconnaissance with federal and civilian law enforcement groups in Mexico. It describes how drones can train reconnaissance teams, safely operate in urban areas with low sound, and gather intelligence with situational awareness to assist first responders. The increasing violence from organized crime presents an opportunity for small drones to save lives through tactical reconnaissance for civilian protection forces and federal law enforcement facing constant danger.

Abstract
The ability to enhance vision capacity for a tactical police team and
protect it from falling into a position of vulnerability could be two
of the main advantages to be provided by the use of small close
range UAS reconnaissance equipment. There are many other
advantages and intermediate solutions by integrating them into
tactical reconnaissance tasks. For example, they can be employed
in the training of the recognition team because of their capability to
provide data and situational awareness on real time during
exercises evaluation. The UAS deployment and safe operation in
urban areas means one of its greatest advantages over manned
aircraft recognition as per their low sound operating level and
small size to carry out intelligence gathering and situational
awareness to assist first responders.
This paper shows our experiences in Mexico with federal and
civilian groups of law enforcement employing small short range
UAS during last months The paper also provide an in-sight on our
efforts to promote their integration to national airspace under
actual UAS framework by Mexican air authority.
The organized crime and drug lords are increasing violence into
urban areas along Mexico where civilian protection forces and
federal law enforcement agencies are facing a constant and risky
battle. This is a perfect opportunity for small close range UAS to
provide a comprehensive, integrated, adaptive and networked
solution that can save valuable lives, both civilian and law
enforcement by tactical reconnaissance.
