The Future of Training and Development
Unit Lesson
What are some of the future trends that might affect training?
Greater use of new technologies for training delivery
Increased demand for training for virtual work arrangements
Increased emphasis on speed in design, focus in content, and use of multiple delivery methods
Increased emphasis on capturing and sharing intellectual capital
Increased use of true performance support
Increased emphasis on performance analysis and learning for business enhancement
Increased use of training partnerships and outsourcing training
A change model perspective to training and development
There will be an increase in the use of new technologies for several reasons:
The cost of new technologies will decrease.
Technology will help employees to better serve customers and generate new business.
It can reduce training costs.
It allows trainers to build the desirable features of a learning environment into training.
Training can be delivered at any place and time.
Based on how quickly technology is growing, there is an increased demand for training in virtual work
arrangements. The location, organization structure, and employment relationships are not limiting factors in
virtual work arrangements. There are two major training challenges—companies must invest in training
delivery methods that facilitate digital collaboration, and teams and employees must be provided with tools
needed for finding knowledge.
There is an increased emphasis on the speed in the design, content, and use of multiple delivery methods.
Rapid instructional design (RID) is a group of techniques that allows training to be built more quickly and
efficiently. Although there are a number of principles that are ...

s is a small business that has been started to provide solutions to design problems. The scope of the business ranges from design of machinery and structures like buildings to household vessels. The design program has to be taught to individuals to enable them to inductively participate competently in the market of design solutions. I always get invited to offer consulting services in this field. I will draw heavily from my experience when I provide training and development services to this business. There are numerous challenges to be overcome for one to be successful as I will show herein.
Training Methods to Be Used
Good learning and development initiatives in the Design field always feature a combination of many methods that, blended together, produce one effective training program. Below are some of the ways of delivering training and development activities for the consulting services.
Orientation
Orientation will familiarize the new trainees with the field of Computer Aided Design. It will be conducted through training manuals, a one-on-one meeting with a consultant who will give a lecture. Newcomers will receive information on our company's history and strategic position, the key people in authority at the business, the structure of departments and how they contribute to the overall mission of the enterprise, and the employment policies, rules, and regulations.
Lectures
Lecturers are a verbal method of presenting information; lectures are mainly useful in situations when the goal is to impart the same information to a large number of people at one time.
Case Study
The Case study method of training is a non-directed method of study where trainees are given practical case reports with similar situations and facts as the current situation to analyze. The case report includes a thorough description of a simulated or real-life situation.
Role Playing
Students assume a role outside of their current role and responsibilities and play out that role within a group. A facilitator creates a scenario that is to be acted out by the participants under the guidance of the facilitator. While the situation might be contrived, the interpersonal relations are genuine. In addition, participants receive immediate feedback from the facilitator and the scenario itself, allowing better understanding of their behavior.
Computer-Based Training
This method of training will involve the use of computers and computer-based instructional materials as the primary medium of instruction. Computer-based training programs will be useful to structure and present instructional materials, as well as facilitate the learning process for the trainee.

New Skills Training
A mazon.com started a program that allows full-time employees to enroll in college courses of their choice. The
policy, called the Amazon Career Course
Program, was developed to enhance workers'
skills and provide individuals the opportunity
to study in academic areas that suit their per-
sonal preferences. The company pays for 95% of tuition, textbooks, and asso-
ciated fees up-front for enrollment in accredited programs that provide
occupational certificates and associate degrees. Amazon will pay for both tradi-
tional on-campus classes and online distance courses, but individuals must be
employed by Amazon on an hourly basis in the United States and have worked
a total of three consecutive years to sign up for tuition reimbursement.
In addition, Amazon will only provide financial support to individuals who
enroll in courses that prepare them to work in high-demand, well-compensated
fields such as medical technology, computer design, and aircraft repair. Paying
for expenses up-front opens doors for Amazon workers who cannot afford the
tuition, books, and fees associated with getting an education.
The motivation to provide such a program is driven by the notion that Ama-
zon can help employees plan and train for their future professional pursuits.
Amazon also wanted to provide an innovative program to employees when
many ot her companies were scaling back on benefits, thus enhancing the firm's
ability to effectively recruit and keep good talent. Indeed, career advancement is
a key concern of employees and has a place in both attraction and retention.
The program can also foster the idea that Amazon cares about employee
well-being because individuals get to choose the job skills they would like to
acquire or develop. However, companies should also consider the costs asso-
ciated with tuition reimbursement and the possible resulting turnover and
make sure such a program will work for them.1

Needs Assessment at McDonald’s, ADP, and HireRight
Needs assessment is a critical first step in designing new training courses and revising existing ones. Consider how needs assessment was used at McDonald’s, ADP, and HireRight.
McDonald’s conducted a needs assessment to help examine where the company needed to go from a learning perspective to help the company achieve its strategic goals. The chief learning officer and her team examined employees’ backgrounds, including education level, gender, language, age, and generation, to get a better understanding of trainees. They gathered data from employees about how frequently they used online training content and how easy it was to access it. Also, they reviewed the responsibilities, tasks, and leadership skills for each job to ensure that they were supported by training classes and curriculum. The needs assessment showed that although more trainees were millennials and Generation Z, the way that training was delivered did not meet their needs or expectations. As a result,
page 119
they created a shorter training curriculum that was more accessible using smartphones, computers, and tablets.
ADP provides human resource management software and services. ADP needed to revise a new hire training program that took 17 weeks to complete. The program was too long to train newly hired service associates and prepare them to begin performing their roles. To redesign its training program so that it was shorter but still effective, ADP conducted a needs assessment. Learning and development team members interviewed high-performing sales associates, observed client calls, and analyzed data from over 3 million client calls to identify the reasons for the calls and how they were typically resolved.
HireRight, a company that provides background screening services, conducted a needs assessment by surveying all of its employees about the type of work environment they considered the most engaging; interviewing company leaders and high-performing employees about their skill needs; reviewing benchmarking data; and analyzing important company performance data. The needs assessment data were used to create a new leadership development program and ...
Training is any planned activity to transfer or modify knowledge, skills, and attitudes through learning experiences. Personnel may require training for a variety of reasons, including the need to maintain levels of competence and respond to the demands of changing circumstances and new approaches and technologies. Training by itself cannot solve structural, organizational, or policy problems within an organization, although supportive supervision and the use of motivational strategies can help sustain performance improvement derived from training (www.who.int/medicinedocs/documents).
Conventional 'training' is required to cover essential work-related skills, techniques and knowledge, and much of this section deals with taking a positive progressive approach to this sort of traditional 'training'. Importantly however, the most effective way to develop people is quite different from conventional skills training, which let's face it many employees regard quite negatively. They'll do it of course, but they won't enjoy it much because it's about work, not about themselves as people. The most effective way to develop people is instead to enable learning and personal development, with all that this implies (www.businessballs.com).

Organizations face a lot of problems during their operation. Communication problem, performance, and interpersonal relations are among the problems that face many organizations. The proposed solution for these problems includes conducting the biweekly meeting and setting up training programs. An organization could be in a dilemma of deciding which solution to implement, therefore, assessing the possible risks of every solution and deciding which solutions could yield the best results is very important. It is also important to evaluate the possible risks to predict what could happen if the organization implement the solution. The following information will enable the leader to make the final decision for every proposed solution.
Conducting Biweekly Meeting
Conducting a biweekly meeting may sometimes be very overwhelming and confusing. Therefore, employees should need the following new skills to benefit from the meetings; willingness to share their goals with the manager and the rest of the members. By telling the manager what specifically they are working on, or what they are aspiring to work on so they can get help and get wherever they want. Another new skill that employees need is the readiness to describe their achievement in the organization. Communication of goals to the members of the meeting will enable the members to take the initiative to help the employee.
Willingness to ask for advice and input is also an important skill for an employee. It is important for employees to come to the meeting prepared with many questions that will require the manager to offer advice and take the role of mentorship. The other new skill is a readiness to discuss other issues connected to career development. Employees should be ready to discuss other issues connected to career development. After an employee has shared his/her direction and focus with the rest of the members, it is important to enrich the meeting in other ways. That is a good time for employees to ask about their strengths or weakness and where they need to improve.
The financial cost of conducting a biweekly meeting will be economical. There will be no financial costs for hiring conference rooms because they will conduct the meeting in a social room owned by the organization. This will enable the organization to save the money and spend it on other issues. If the organization will implement this solution communication barrier will decrease. This kind of meetings will encourage employees from different sections to interact. The interaction among workers will make them free with each other and enable them to communicate in a freer manner. This form of meetings will improve the flow of communication in both directions. This strategy will enable workers to communicate their challenges and give the organization a chance to completely understand their i.

Working With Survivors of Sexual Abuse and Trauma: The Case of Rita
Rita is a 22-year-old, heterosexual, Latina female working in the hospitality industry at a resort. She is the youngest of five children and lives at home with her parents. Rita has dated in the past but never developed a serious relationship. She is close to her immediate and extended family as well as to her female friends in the Latino community. Although her parents and three of her siblings were born in the Dominican Republic, Rita was born in the United States.
A year ago, Rita was sexually assaulted by an acquaintance of a male coworker. Rita and a female coworker met Juan and Bob after work at a local bar for a light meal and a few drinks. Because Rita had to get up early to work her shift the next day, Bob offered to drive her home. Instead of taking Rita directly home, however, he drove to a desolate spot nearby and assaulted her. Afterward, Bob threatened to harm her family if she did not remain silent and proceeded to drive her home. Although Rita did not tell her family what happened, she did call our agency hotline the next day to discuss her options. Because Rita’s assault occurred within the 5-day window for forensic evidence collection of this kind, Rita consented to activation of the county’s sexual assault response team (SART). Although she agreed to have an advocate and the sexual assault nurse examiner (SANE) meet her at the hospital, Rita tearfully stated that she did not want to file a police report at that time because she did not want to upset her family. The nurse examiner interviewed Rita, collected evidence, recorded any injuries, administered antibiotics for possible sexually transmitted infections, and gave Rita emergency contraception in case of pregnancy. The advocate stayed with Rita during the procedure, supporting her and validating her experience, and gave her a referral for individual crisis counseling at our agency.
My treatment goals for Rita included alleviation of rape trauma syndrome symptoms that included shame and self-blame, validation of self-worth and empowerment, and processing how it would feel to discl.
According to the text, crime has been part of the human condition si.docxaryan532920
According to the text, crime has been part of the human condition since people began to live in groups. Ancient documents indicate that conduct we now call murder, theft, or robbery was identified as criminal by civilizations that existed thousands of years ago. Criminal laws regulate human conduct and tell people what they can and cannot do and, in some instances, what they must do under certain circumstances. In this assignment, you will explore different types of criminal conduct and the goals of criminal law.
Write a four to six (4-6) page paper in which you:
Determine whether or not the Ex Post Facto Clause can be used as a defense to prohibit the increase in federal minimum/mandatory sentencing guidelines after a federal defendant has committed the crime. Provide a rationale to support your position.
Explain the distinction between criminal, tort, and moral wrongs. Next, support or criticize the premise that the standards set by moral laws are higher than those set by criminal law.
Identify and discuss the differences between solicitation of another to commit a crime and a conspiracy to commit a crime. Next, support or criticize the use of the unilateral approach to conspiracy convictions.
Identify the four (4) goals of criminal law, and discuss the manner in which these four goals effectuate the purpose of protecting the public and preventing the conviction of innocent persons.
Use at least three (3) quality academic resources in this assignment.
Note:
Wikipedia and similar types of websites do not qualify as academic resources.
Your assignment must follow these formatting requirements:
This course requires use of new
Strayer Writing Standards (SWS

He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.

Based on how quickly technology is growing, there is an
increased demand for training in virtual work

employment relationships are not limiting factors in
virtual work arrangements. There are two major training
challenges—companies must invest in training

There is an increased emphasis on the speed in the design,

Rapid instructional design (RID) is a group of techniques that
allows training to be built more quickly and

be more on accomplishment and performance than anything. The
bottom line is these are systems of learning
and not instruction, which is opposite the traditional school of
thought.
There is a great increase on emphasizing, capturing, and sharing
intellectual capital. Sharing knowledge and
contributing to intellectual capital will become more common as
collaborative social networking technology
and Web 2.0 tools make this simpler to implement. This
requires that the trainers of tomorrow be
technologically literate.
The training of tomorrow will increase the use of true
performance support and will utilize embedded learning,
which occurs on the job as needed. It involves collaboration and
non-learning technologies and is strongly
integrated with knowledge management. This may become
increasingly prevalent as companies cannot have
5. employees spend hours on learning that is not directly relevant
to their current job demands. It is neither time
nor cost effective, so employees will have options in the
learning they will receive. They may be presented
with a short learning episode embedded in their work and be
alerted whenever new learning episodes are
needed and available. They will now have direct connections to
the experts continuously because they are
connected online. They will also have simulations for guidance
and correction.
The technology available for collaboration includes virtual
classroom software and asynchronous tools that
are currently being used today. There will be an increased
emphasis on performance analysis and learning
for business enhancement. The performance analysis approach
identifies performance gaps or deficiencies
and examines training as one possible solution for the business
units. This is done to make it easier for
training departments to focus on interventions related to
performance improvement, provide support for high-
performance work systems, and develop systems for training
administration, development, and delivery that
reduce costs and increase employees’ access to learning.
Training departments’ responsibilities will include a
greater focus on systems that employees can use for information
on an as-needed basis.
In order to make use of training partnerships and outsourcing of
training, training departments will increase
partnerships with academic institutions to provide basic skills
training and to develop customized programs.
They will also need to leverage utilizing an Application Service
Provider (ASP), which is a company that rents
out access to software for a specific application.
6. Organizations will begin to look at training and development
from more of a change model perspective in the
future to enhance and expand on their current training and
delivery methods. In order for these new training
or development practices to be successfully implemented,
organizations will need to communicate the change
from the top down and the structures must support the change.
Employees have a responsibility as well. They
need to understand the reasons for change and accept them,
have the skills needed to implement the
change, and see managers and employees in power positions
support the change.
The steps in the change process that need to take place are:
the problem or opportunity and create a sense of
urgency.
-in.
-term wins.
, and modify.
All of the above steps are unnecessary if no change is required.
Thus, a key component is to determine
whether or not change is truly necessary. From a systems
perspective, companies and trainers need to
understand both the internal and external environments,
understand the effectiveness and efficiency of
current training practices, and be aware of other companies’
7. practices to ensure that their training practices
are the best possible. They also have to review benchmarking,
which provides information about other
companies’ practices and consider process reengineering, which
provides information about the effectiveness
and efficiency of training systems within the company.
Once all of the analysis has been completed, the implementation
process begins. As with any change, there
are always challenges that seem to arise during the process. To
minimize issues, organizations utilize
organization development (OD) and change management (CM)
methods. OD is a planned, systematic
change process that uses behavioral science knowledge and
techniques to improve companies’ effectiveness
by improving relationships and increasing learning and
problem-solving capabilities. Change management is
