This unit plan focuses on teaching fourth grade students about the Amazon Rainforest. The goal is for students to comprehend key aspects of the rainforest and be able to discuss them in detail upon completing the unit.

1. Unit Plan Abstract
This unit plan is designed for a fourth grade science classroom. The Amazon Rainforest is
the focus of this unit. Different technologies are used throughout the day to day lessons.
The main goal of this unit plan is to get students to comprehend different aspects of the
rainforest. Students will be engaging in hands-on activities in an effort to encourage to be as
motivated and interested in the subject as possible. The use of social networks and a web 2.0
application will hopefully spark the students’ interests.
Upon the completion of the unit plan, students will be able to discuss in detail the
climate of the rainforest, the rainforest strata, endangered Amazonian animals, reasons for
rainforest depletion, and have a general understanding of the Amazon Rainforest.
