   1. Short Term
         a. Students will examine the role of the Marshall plan in rebuilding the European
             economy
         b. Students will analyze the success of the Truman doctrine in containing
             communism in Greece and Turkey
         c. Students will compare the NSC-68 Document to the Patriot Act
   2. Long Term
         a. Students will be able to critically examine the political, social and cultural impact
             of McCarthyism in America
         b. Students will formulate an understanding of United States involvement in the
             Korean War.
         c. Students will analyze the Gulf of Tonkin incident
         d. Students will critically examine the impact of the Cuban Missile Crisis
