Major petrochemicals are chemical products derived from petroleum or other fossil fuels and renewable sources. types and applications of synthetic adhesivesAfzal Zubair
Synthetic adhesives are man-made adhesives that are designed and manufactured through industrial processes. They can be classified in several ways, including by the number of components needed, the structure of the adhesive polymer after curing, and the type of curing process. Some common types include one-component adhesives that cure with moisture and two-component adhesives that require mixing before curing. Synthetic adhesives are widely used for joining materials through gluing, for waterproofing objects, and in various industrial applications due to their superior mechanical and chemical properties compared to natural adhesives.
Malaysia has established ideal infrastructure to support a vibrant petrochemical industry by harnessing its oil and gas reserves through partnerships with major petroleum companies. Its facilities include integrated petrochemical complexes that offer utilities and transportation to reduce costs. The country provides tax incentives and has attracted over $9 billion in investments to its petrochemical sector, largely from the US, Japan, UK, Germany and Taiwan. It has significant oil and gas reserves and feedstock supplies to support the industry.
fractional distillation and refining of petroleumAfzal Zubair
Petroleum is a complex mixture of hydrocarbons and other compounds that varies in composition depending on its source. It is a thick, brown liquid found below the earth's surface. Refining petroleum involves separating it into fractions of different boiling points and removing impurities through fractional distillation. In fractional distillation, the mixture is heated and different compounds condense out of the vapor at different levels in the distillation tower based on their boiling points. Over 500 compounds can be obtained through petroleum distillation.
Fractional distillation is a method to separate mixtures with different boiling points. It has been used since ancient times by Greek alchemists and in China during the Han dynasty. The process works by heating a mixture so it forms vapors, which rise up a fractional distillation column and condense based on their boiling points. Common uses are separating crude oil into hydrocarbon products like gasoline and separating chemicals in a lab. Current research is improving efficiency and applications in areas like oil refining.
The document discusses effective vocabulary instruction strategies supported by research. It recommends explicitly teaching vocabulary words, including providing student-friendly definitions and examples of words in context. It also suggests varying vocabulary instruction tasks, such as asking questions about word meanings, and relating words to students' prior knowledge and experiences. The document emphasizes the importance of multiple exposures, active engagement, and relating new words to known words.
The document discusses the use of the present simple tense in English grammar, noting that it is used to describe short actions happening now, habits, permanent situations that are always true, and daily routines. It provides examples of each, such as "Falcao takes the ball and scores a goal" for short actions now, "She likes to eat vegetables" for habits, "I live in London" for permanent situations, "2+2 equals 4" for things that are always true, and "She wakes up at 5:00 everyday" for routines.
This document provides exercises to practice the present simple tense in English. It includes examples of affirmative, negative, and interrogative sentences using common verbs like live, speak, go, play, eat, learn, teach, watch and work. Students are asked to complete sentences in the present simple by selecting the correct verb form and identify errors. Vocabulary related to daily routines, locations, foods, hobbies, and school/work subjects are provided to help students build sentences.

This science document for 4th graders introduces key vocabulary about matter including the three states of matter - solid, liquid, and gas. It discusses the building blocks of matter at the particle level including protons, neutrons, and electrons and how heat and cold can cause matter to change states through processes like melting, freezing, evaporation, and condensation.
Matter is anything that takes up space and has mass. It is made up of particles and can be found in four states: solid, liquid, gas, and plasma. Matter has shape, volume, and mass. Solids have particles that are tightly packed and do not change shape. Liquids have particles that are loosely packed and can flow and change shape but maintain a constant volume. Gases have particles that are far apart and spread out, changing both shape and volume. Matter can change states when heat or cold is added through processes like melting, freezing, boiling, and condensation.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in EducationPeter Windle
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
