On April 22nd, shots 24 and 35 will be filmed in the kitchen with Owen and Justin, and shots 5 and 29-31 will be filmed in the parents' bedroom with Justin and Owen. Editing of shots 1-20 will take place on May 8th and shots 21-35 will be edited on May 9th.
The document provides evidence of the filmmaking process over two days, including setting up the camera on the first day, directing an actor on the second day by pointing where to look, exporting and editing the film including audio, and compiling all shots to edit into the final product.
The document summarizes the different rooms in the author's house that will be used for filming a movie. It describes the bedroom, lounge, kitchen, parents' bedroom, toilet, and living room, noting any space constraints or advantages each room provides for different scenes. The author considers using their house for filming because it allows filming anytime without permission and provides suitable locations.
The risk assessment document identifies potential hazards for a film shoot involving actors and camera staff. It notes hazards such as slips and trips from equipment on the floor, electrocution from liquids near cameras, falls on stairs while carrying equipment, health issues from overwork without breaks or food, and obstructions that could cause actors to bump into props or equipment. The document outlines existing safety measures and additional actions needed, such as keeping floors clear, avoiding liquids near cameras, taking breaks to eat, and leaving space to move around sets. Actors and camera staff are responsible for implementing the safety measures.
This screenplay is about a babysitter named Emily who is caring for two shy children, Jack and Kate, on Halloween night. Strange events begin occurring in the empty house, like objects moving on their own. Emily discovers Jack sleepwalking and returns him to bed. She then sees a clown outside and calls the parents for help. When she cannot find the children, Emily explores the house and discovers a secret basement where the clown attacks her. The story implies that Paul was the clown who assaulted Emily. Three months later, Emily is shown as a bruised maid, implying she is now their prisoner.

This 3 sentence summary provides the essential information from the document:
This document discusses editing a film, showing a picture of the Adobe file used to edit the film and a picture of the folder containing all the stored footage used to edit the film.
I filmed my film over 2 days, setting up the camera on the first day and directing one of my actors on the second day, pointing where I wanted them to look and what I would like them to do.
Elliot Power is preparing footage for the editing of the film "The Babysitter". The rushes log contains 35 video files with details on each clip such as length, notes on usable portions, and where they are stored. Many of the clips are usable but have issues with focus, actors looking at the camera or laughing, or directions being given at the start that need cutting. Some clips will need to be re-shot to fix these issues before being usable in the final edited film.
This risk assessment document identifies potential hazards for a babysitting job on January 5th, 2018. It lists slips and trips as a hazard, noting actors and camera staff should ensure no cables or items are on the floor. Electrocution is also identified if liquid is spilled on the camera, advising camera staff to avoid liquids near equipment. The document evaluates who may be harmed and current control measures, seeking additional actions needed to control risks.
I will record my film in my house so that I can film anytime without permission and because it has the perfect locations for my film including a bedroom, lounge and kitchen where there is room for actors and camera positioning.
In the first scene, Karen and Paul are leaving their house for the evening, leaving Emily to babysit their children. Strange events begin occurring while Emily watches the children, including objects disappearing and noises from the kitchen. She later sees a clown in the garden. When Emily calls Karen to report the clown, Karen says she is on her way home. Emily then goes looking for the children and finds the basement door open. Upon investigating, she is attacked with a spade.
To Hull and Back is a BBC radio sitcom created by Lucy Beaumont that first aired in 2014. It is a comedy about a daughter who still lives with her mother and dreams of moving to London to live with her father and become an actress. As a radio show, it does not follow a traditional narrative structure and there are only dialogues between characters with background sound effects, as radio cannot show visuals. The target audience is believed to be middle-aged people, as radio stations Radio 4 and Radio 2 where it aired tend to aim their programming at middle-aged audiences.
The student conducted a SWOT analysis of their script writing project. Their strengths included incorporating client feedback into multiple drafts and having a good layout and story. Weaknesses were dialogue that could be more interesting, lacking detail in scene descriptions, and submitting late. An opportunity was to plan out time better to stay focused. Threats to completing on time were a part-time job and heavy homework load distracting from focus in lessons.
The client provided feedback on the script in two meetings, resulting in three drafts. The client liked the plot twist but disliked the first draft's layout and terminology. To improve, the script was changed to industry standard layout and font, and "clown" was replaced with "man dressed as a clown". The client felt expectations were met with the unpredictable plot twist. A full shooting script was produced meeting legal and ethical standards. The client was pleased with the final product given the effort and being their first attempt.
This screenplay is about a babysitter named Emily who is watching two shy children, Jack and Kate, for the night. Strange events start occurring in the empty house and Emily discovers a secret basement. She finds the children down there with their father Paul, who is dressed as a clown and knocks Emily unconscious. The ending reveals Emily is now a maid for the family, implying she is their prisoner. The screenplay explores a creepy night of babysitting that turns sinister.
The document discusses changes needed for two meetings. For Meeting1, it recommends changing the font, adding proper scene titles, and writing people's names in capital letters. For Meeting2, it recommends changing the layout in Word and changing "clown" to "man dressed as a clown".
Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare is a first-person shooter video game released in 2007 that follows the US and British secret service as they try to stop a radical leader in the Middle East and a civil war in Russia. It has a typical 3 act narrative structure for video games and films with a beginning, middle, and end. The game genre includes a lot of action and crime conventions like guns, killing, explosions, and car chases to keep the gameplay fast-paced. The target audience is typically males ranging from 10 to 50 years old, though the game has an age rating of 18, with many younger teenage boys also part of the community stereotypically drawn to the action and killing elements of shooting

3. General Information for Learners
Q Do I have to pass this assignment?
A Yes. This unit contributes to the achievement of the full qualification.
Q What help will I get?
A Your tutor will support you when completing the OCR Cambridge Technical model
assignment and will make sure that you know what resources/facilities you need and are
allowed to use.
Q What if I don’t understand something?
A It is your responsibility to read the assignment carefully and make sure you understand what
you need to do and what you should hand in. If you are not sure, check with your tutor.
Q Can I copy other people’s work?
A No. The work that you produce must be your own work and you will be asked to sign a
declaration to say that the work is your own. You should never copy the work of other
learners or allow others to copy your work. Any information that you use from other sources,
e.g. books, newspapers, professional journals, the Internet, must be clearly identified and not
presented as your own work.
Q Can I work in a group?
A Yes. However, if you work in a group at any stage you must still produce work that shows
your individual contribution.
Q How should I present my work?
A You can present your work in a variety of ways, e.g. hand-written, word-processed, on video,
digital media. However, what you choose should be appropriate to the task(s). For some
work, e.g. presentations, coaching sessions, role-play, work experience, you will need to
provide proof that you completed the task(s). A witness statement or observation sheet
could be used for this. If you are unsure, check with your tutor.
Q When I have finished, what do I need to hand in?
A You need to hand in the work that you have completed for each task. Do not include any
draft work or handouts unless these are asked for. When you hand in your work make sure
that it is labelled, titled and in the correct order for assessing.
Q How will my work be assessed?
A Your work will be marked by an assessor in your centre. The assessor will mark the work
using the assessment and grading criteria.
4. Scenario
Online educational resource
Your organisation has asked you to produce an online educational resource for media learners.
The resource will be used as an introduction to media analysis by focusing on a media company
and its products. You will need to look at a company which produces films and research their
structure and products.
The unique selling point (USP) of this online educational resource is that it is produced by learners
for learners as an introduction to the media world, its ownership, organisation, production
processes and products. The online educational resource will also focus on:
• media audiences;
• distribution/advertising;
• the media effects debate;
• representation;
• legal and ethical issues;
• the role of the regulatory bodies who oversee the industry.
This resource will be used to support the studies of learners undertaking a media studies course.
The information presented needs to reflect the underlying issues and be suitable for the target
audience.
You will be required to design a homepage and related webpages, containing:
• text and images/graphics – for example a logo, banner/header, text links to other pages,
advertisements, photographs of learners/tutors in lessons, etc;
• rich media – for example an audio-visual introduction to the website, interviews with
learners/tutors, animation, etc.
The webpages should contain the online education resource information you will be providing to
media learners. The related webpages should follow the same housestyle and design layout as
the homepage.
The homepage and related pages may be presented online or offline.
Ringwood Specific Brief:
• You will be making a ‘wix’ to display your ‘online educational resource for
media learners’.
• We will be studying Disney and The Force Awakens (2015) as our ‘media
company and its products’.
• All your work will go on your wix website, a link will then be put onto your
media blog under the title ‘Unit 1: Analysing Media Products and
Audiences’

5. Tasks
Introduction to the tasks
Your company has been asked to produce an educational resource for media learners. This guide
will be used as a teaching resource for learners new to the media industry. The section of the
educational resource you will need to produce is related to the film industry.
This will be the first of a range of educational resources the company wants to produce, so you will
need to design a homepage and related webpages containing:
• text and images/graphics – for example a logo, banner/header, text links to other pages,
advertisements, photographs of learners/tutors in lessons, etc;
• rich media – for example an audio-visual introduction to the website, interviews with
learners/tutors, animation, etc.
The company is keen that the related webpages should follow the same housestyle and design
layout as the homepage, so that this format can be utilised for further resources.
The homepage and related pages may be presented online or offline.
6. TASKS
LO1 (P1): Understand media products and the institutions that create them
TASK 1: CASE STUDY OF DISNEY STUDIOS
• Using your own research and the materials provided by us, create a visual fact-
file (suggested Canva, prezi or emaze) about Disney Studios that covers each of
the following:
• OWNERSHIP
• OPERATING MODEL
• PRODUCTS
• MARKETING POSITION
• COMPETITORS
• Evidence of learning does not mean you can simply print off pages from
the internet or plagiarise copy. Your case study document should be
created yourself by reading, researching and digesting all of the
information available and transforming that knowledge into a form that
shows your understanding.
LO1 (P2, M1, D1): Understand media products and the institutions that create them
TASK 2: Analytical film review of The Force Awakens
• Using your notes from class and the correct media language, analyse The Force
Awakens Trailer in as much detail as you can using examples and screen grabs
from the trailer.
• Please use the numbered points as headings/section dividers.
• This could be answered as a podcast/vodcast or in more essay based form full
of supporting images
1. GENERAL OVERVIEW
2. PURPOSE
3. GENRE
4. FORM
5. STYLE
6. CONTENT & MEANING
‘production process’ will be covered in task 4 alongside distribution and advertising
LO2 (P3, M2, D2): Understand the relationship between media products and their
target audience
Task 3: Audience Profiling Research
Part A (P3):
Using the BFI statistical yearbook (look specifically at the 2015 ones related to our film),
your theory notes and your own research, create a report/infographic/audience profile that
explains who the audience is for Force Awakens.
• You should create stereotypical avatars (online, hand-drawn, photograph) for both
male and female audiences.
• Annotate your avatars in terms of gender, age, life style, and spending power
• Include theory: NRS scale, 4C’s scale, Uses & Gratifications Theory, Cultivation
theory and Morley
Part B (M2):
6
7. Now that you know who your target audience is, conduct a survey or focus group to find
out more about the relationship of the chosen audience and our case study film.
Your questions should find out more about age, class, life style and spending power of
your audience.
Then analyse your findings as a results report.
Part C (D2):
As part of your results report, to achieve a distinction you need to explain:
• What aspects of the film would appeal to the target audience?
• Which aspects of the trailer would influence the target audience to view the film
You should give examples of scenes/parts of the trailer in your answer. You could also
break this in sections gender, age, lifestyle and spending power.
LO3 (P4): Understand how media products are distributed and promoted (plus
production process from LO1:P2)
TASK 4: Timeline of the Production Process for Force Awakens, including
Distribution and Advertising
1. You need to investigate the three phases of Production (Pre production, Production
and Post production) and create a timeline for Force Awakens, from Disney's
acquisition of Lucasfilm in October 2012 - Present day.
2. You should also have a timeline for distribution and advertising
• Your final timeline can be made on any format you wish. It will not be a single line,
we are expecting separate ‘branches’ with additional info.
• Suggested tools canva timeline/infogram or prezi
LO4 (P5, M3): Understand ethical, legal, and regulatory issues associated with
media products
TASK 5: Legal & Ethical, Impact and Representation Report
This is to explore how media products are created within a legal and ethical framework of
the society in which they are constructed. Producers and institutions have to be very
aware of the possible positive and negative effects that their products may have upon
individuals and communities.
• For this task you must investigate and research the legal, ethical and regulatory
restrictions within which your chosen film was made.
• Your investigation will illustrate your understanding of how these legal and
ethical requirements have an impact upon the producers, the product and
subsequently how the product may affect its audiences.
• Your discussion must be placed within the context of UK law and relevant
regulatory bodies associated with your chosen media product.
• Produce a report answering the above
