Feb. 10 - 26, 2016
If one had to define Colombia with one word, it would be “variety”. This is because the country offers
a unique mix of cultures and traditions as well as the most diverse fauna and flora and geographical
characteristics; all very close to one another, easy to plan within one trip, and these come with one
effect: extraordinary people that are eager to proudly show their country.
With over 50 golf courses, Colombia, surpassed only by Argentina and Brazil, offers challenging
courses in each region, designed by golfing legends such as Robert Trent Jones, Gary Player and Jack
Nicklaus. The Karibana Beach Golf Cartagena is the only TPC (Tournament Players Club, PGA) golf
course in South America.
Feb. 10 BOGOTA | Arrival
Arrive into Bogota. After clearing airport formalities, meet our guide and transfer to our hotel, Pavillon Royal
(http://www.pavillonroyal.com.co/default-en.html ).
Feb. 11 BOGOTA
Bogotá is a city that after the Spanish conquest, many churches, squares and houses were built in colo-
nial-architectural styles. This architecture has been preserved in a handful of zones. Today’s tour begins at
Monserrate Hill Catholic sanctuary in Bogotá. Once on summit gaze at impressive view of the city. Nearby
the sanctuary, shop for religious souvenirs. To reach summit, take the funicular railway, cable car, or hike
up to the top, and watch religious sculptures on the Way of the Cross along the way. From funicular or cable
car, immerse in scenery of exotic flora combined with view of a massive metropolis. Continue on to “La
Candelaria”, a historical place for visitors. The colonial architecture is preserved; visit places that reflect
Republican style, like the National Capitol, Prime Cathedral, City Hall (Lievano Palace), and the House of
20th of July where cry of independence took place. Visit Bolivar Villa: a sample piece of rural domestic
architecture from the colonial period. Finally, visit the Nineteenth-Century Museum; appreciate furniture
and clothing typical of that time.
Feb. 12 BOGOTA

Feb. 14 BOGOTA - PEREIRA (Coffee Region)
Transfer to airport for our flight to Pereira. On arrival, transfer to our exclusive accommodations at Ha-
cienda San Jose (http://www.haciendahotelsanjose.com/en/inicio.html ), a former hacienda transformed
beautifully into a boutique hotel with large garden and pool with bedrooms reminiscent of the old Spanish
colonial times.
This afternoon, visit the coffee plantations, view the coffee plants that spread out as far as the horizon,
interrupted only by “fincas” –small farms- and heliconia flowers. The harvest in Colombia takes around a
year, although the main period is in October and May/June. Most plantations in Colombia produce Arabica
beans which produce a delicate and light tasting coffee which is widely recognized and consumed. Once
the fruit is picked, the pulp is stripped away and the bean is cleaned and dried in the sun, the beans are
exported or dried in preparation for sale, before being ground and made ready for human consumption.

carriage. The sound of the horse’s hooves on the colonial streets, the refreshing breeze from the sea, the ni-
