Understanding the TALC Model and Its
Applications
The TALC model, or the Tourism Area Life Cycle model, is a framework that provides insights
into the stages of a destination's evolution and development over time. This model was
developed by Richard W. Butler, a tourism expert, in 1980. The TALC model has been widely
used by destination planners, policymakers, and tourism businesses to better understand
the stages of tourism development and make informed decisions about the future of a
