Understanding the Prophetic Pt. 5
The Book of Zechariah:
“Zechariah means "Jehovah remembers" and it is the most apocalyptic and
messianic book of all the minor prophet books.”
“Zechariah was written for a small remnant of Jews who returned to Judah to
rebuild the temple and their nations.”
“Chapter 1 details a call to return to the Lord given by Zechariah.”
Verse 7-17
“Myrtle trees withstand drought and remain green after being cut. Horses
symbolize God’s involvement in world government. Red symbolizes blood
atonement (Revelation 6:4), Brown symbolizes something dying (1 Peter 1:21-
24), White represented being refined, righteous and heavenly (Isaiah 1:18).”
Verse 18:
“The four horns represent Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Medo-Persia who all
scattered Jerusalem, and Judah.”
Chapter 2
“A measuring line is used to measure length, but here it is used as a point to
measure the restoration of Israel.”
Chapter 3
Verse 1:5
“Joshua represented the nation of Israel and his clothes represented the sins
of the people. The new clothes he was given represented the mercy of God
and how righteousness and mercy are received.”
Psalms 118
Matthew 21:42
Chapter 4:
The Gold lamp stamp represents God’s power and steady supply of oil. The
Olive tree is where the oil comes from and represents the priestly and royal
offices.”
“Zerubbabel was a descendant of David holding to the tradition that David’s
line would be established in Israel.”
Chapter 5:
The scroll measurements are the measurements of the Holy Place in the
tabernacle.
“The woman in the basket represented the removal of Israel’s sin or rebellion
against God. The basket represented the iniquity of the people throughout
the land.”
Chapter 6:
“Of the four colored horses, the dappled grey horses mean pestilence.”
Chapter 8:
“In this chapter God promised Jerusalem that they would be saved, and they
were encouraged to rebuild the land and temple.”
Chapter 9
“God declares judgment on Israel enemies, Hamath, Tyre, Sidon, Ashkleon,
Ashdod, and Ekron.”
Chapter 10:
“God is angry at the leaders for refusing to take care of His flock and the
flock He was speaking of was the people of Judah and God in turn takes care
of them Himself and this is detailed in verses 6-12.”
Chapter 11:
Two shepherds or staff’s called :favor" and "union" is depicted. Favor is
broken to signify the revoking of the convent He had made with the nations
in verse 10-11.
In verse 12-13, Zechariah prophesies the amount of money Judas would
betray Jesus for.”
Chapter 12:
“Chapter 12 talks about future deliverance for Jerusalem and how God will
protect Jerusalem from surrounding nations.”
Chapter 13:
“Chapter 13 talks about the cleansing from sin where God will banish idols,
the spirit of impurity and false prophets.”
Verse 7-11 detail what will happen to Jesus when He coems to earth
Chapter 14:
Tells the coming of Jehovah and talks about the battle of Armageddon.
Armageddon in Hebrew is Megiddo, a hill which overlooks the Jezreel valley
where satan and the antichrist will battle.”
The Book Of Ezekiel:
“Ezekiel means "strength of God" and the book of Ezekiel is divided into three
parts: the first part is the message of doom in chapter 1 thru 24, messages
against foreign nations in chapters 25 thru 32, and messages of hope in
chapter 33 thru 48.”
Ezekiel 2:4-7
“One thing prophets must do is listen to God’s word, not be afraid, and not
care about whether people listen or not.”
Ezekiel 3:8-9
Chapter 5:
“Ezekiel shaves his head which signifies mourning, humiliation, and
repentance and he was told to divide his hair in three parts which signified
what would happen to the people of Jerusalem. The few strands of hair he had
left represents the small remnant of people God would preserve but some had
to be judged because their faith was not genuine.”

Judgment on Israel’s leaders

Judgment against false prophets

Jerusalem is compared to a useless vine

Two eagles and a vine

Chapter 24:
“In verse 15, Ezekiel’s wife dying symbolized God taking the pride of life away. This
shows that prophets must bear things.”
Chapter 37:
Valley of dry bones
The Book of Daniel:
Daniel means "God is my judge". Daniel was also known as Belteshazzar.”
“The book of Daniel is divided into two parts, his life in chapter 1-6, and his visions
in chapters 7 thru 12.”
Chapter 1:
“Daniel didn’t eat the kings food and ate vegetables and drank water only and this
is known as a Daniel fast. He didn’t defile himself with the Babylonian food. He was
unblemished and if he had ate the Babylon food he would have been ineffective for
God.”
Chapter 2:
“King Nebuchadnezzar has dreams and Daniel is the only person to interpret
it and the dream is prophetic.”The head of the statue was gold and
represented the Babylonian empire. The chest and arms were silver
represented the Medo-Persian empire. The belly was bronze represented the
Greek empire and the legs and feet represented the Roman empire.”
Chapter 3:
The fiery furnace
Chapter 4:
Nebuchadnezzar dreams about tree and the tree was him. He would be driven
away for seven years because he didn’t acknowledge God as the only God.”
Chapter 5:
The writing on the wall
Mene – God has numbered the days of your reign and has brought it to an
end.
Tekel – you have weighed on the scales and found wanting.
Psalm 62:19
Parsin – your kingdom is divided and given to the Persians.
That night, Belshazzar was killed and this word was fulfilled that night.
Daniel has a dream about four beasts and this can be compared to what was
show to the apostle John in the book of revelation.”

Chapter 12:
Verse 1&2 can be referenced to Revelation 16:18.
“All the things Daniel saw he couldn’t speak on because Daniel had to wait for
Jesus to come fulfill His part first.
The Book of Jeremiah:
“The word of the lord came to Jeremiah during the reign of three kings,
Zedekiah, Jehoiakim, and Josiah.”
“In chapter 1 we see that prophets are called before they are born and we see
that God trains Jeremiah to be able to see and hear clearly.”
“Jeremiah means "Yahweh throws" and his parables are communicated
through object lessons and sermons.”
“Jeremiah’s ministry expanded more than 40 years and he was a heartbroken
prophet with a heartbreaking message and he was a contemporary of
Habakkuk, Daniel, Ezekiel, and Zephaniah.”
“Jeremiah prophesied the coming judgment of God upon Judah through the
Babylonian captivity of the southern Kingdom.”

men. The final 27 chapters declare a message of hope.”
“Jeremiah was a prophet of the southern kingdom of Judah and was a
contemporary of Hosea and Micah.”
“Jeremiah presents a series of powerful oracles against Babylon, Assyria,
Philistia, Moab, Damascus, Ethiopia, Edom, Egypt, Arabia, Jerusalem, &
Tyre.”
