- To kick off the afternoon, we’re going to play a game. If you have seen the TV game show Only connect, you will be familiar with the concept of the wall. We are going to show you a wall composed of 16 tiles. We want you to group the tiles into four sets. Unlike Only connect there are two possible correct answers. However only one of them will connect all the groups.
- One possible outcome is that the bricks are grouped by type – this is fine,
- This is the solution that links everything in the wall together. If you’ve got this answer, congratulations, you have created your first application profile. Here’s a basic application profile- you can start with the MARC element code if that is what cataloguers are familiar with. You need to relate it to the RDA attribute. It’s useful to include the domain, i.e. the entity to which the attribute belongs. You should also specify the recording method to be followed. Other information can of course be included, such as range.
