Universal Design for Learning (UDL) is a framework for designing instruction that provides multiple means of engagement, representation, action and expression to give all students equal opportunities to learn. UDL recognizes that each student learns differently and provides flexible accommodations. It has three core principles - recognition networks for perception, strategic networks for physical action and expression, and affective networks for engagement and motivation. UDL uses technology, varied activities and incorporating student interests to support diverse learning needs and styles.
