RECRUITMENT INFORMATION SHEET
Recruitment Goals
Our goal is to recruit a broad range of key informants who can provide diverse perspectives about
how mental health services are being delivered to older adults in their county. We aim to recruit a
minimum of 8 key informants from each participating county who are actively involved and/or
knowledgeable about mental health and aging services delivery (both county and contracted
services). We are asking for YOUR HELP in recruiting the following:
Older adult mental health consumers/family members
County mental health/behavioral health licensed provider/clinician who works directly with
older adults
Community-based mental health provider contracted by the county to provide MHSA services
Area Agency on Aging (AAA) aging services administrator
Community-based aging services provider (e.g., Community-Based Adult Services Centers
(CBAS) or Multipurpose Senior Services Program (MSSP)
Representative from mental health advocacy organization (if applicable)
RecruitmentProcess
For consumers and family members: We will provide you with recruitment flyers to place at clinics
and consumer meetings or give to potential consumer or family member key informants when you tell
them about the project. Please ask prospective participants to use the toll-free number provided to
contact the UCLA team directly, if they are willing to participate or want more information (see
attached recruitment flyer).
For all other types of potential interviewees: We will ask you to identify potential key informants
from your county from the above categories and provide us with their name and organization. We will
contact them directly to tell them more about the project and invite them to participate.
What Participation Entails
Participationinvolvesonein-person or telephone interview up to 60 minutes in length. Participants will
be asked questions about older adult mental health services and the system of care in their county.
UCLA will offer a $20 gift card to thank participants for their time. All informationgathered during the
interviews will be confidential, with no identifying informationshared, incompliance with the UCLA
Human Subjects Protectionapproved protocol.
