Editor's Notes

  1. This presentation demonstrates the use of hyperlinks to navigate from one slide to another. This method is effective in situations where a presentation is run unattended, such as at a kiosk or in a booth. The hyperlinks function as buttons that viewers click in slide show view to see the various slides. For basic information about applying designs, inserting text and graphics, and creating transitions, see the Basic Presentation sample. In this presentation, see the notes page of the slide for a description of the special effects. Hyperlinks After we created the slides for the presentation, we created hyperlink buttons on the title master and then copied them to the slide master. (On the View menu, point to Master , and then click a master.) To create a hyperlink: First, insert the photos on the title master. On the Formatting Palette , under Add Object s, click Insert Picture from File , and click the photos you want. Size the photos as required and place them in a row on the master. Use a guide to align them (on the View menu, click Guides) . Add shadows to the photos. On the Formatting Palette , under Shadow , select the Shadow check box, and then select the options you want Under each photo, type a label, such as Alpine Grill Restaurant , in a text box. To create a text box, on the Insert menu, click Text Box . Drag to create the box. Then type the text. For each photo and its text box label, add a hyperlink to the appropriate slide. To create the hyperlink, first select the photo. On the Formatting Palette , under Hyperlink , on the Click pop-up menu, click Slide , and then click the name of the slide that the button should be hyperlinked to. Select the text box label for the photo and repeat the process, linking it to the same slide. This allows the kiosk user to click either the photo or the text to navigate to a slide.
  2. As the photo of the rock massage fades into the background, the text on the left is replaced by a fade in of the photo of the man with the facial mask. On the right, the bulleted items appear one at a time. To animate a slide: In normal view, select the slide that contains the text or object you want to animate. On the Slide Show menu, click Custom Animation . Under Select to animate , click the text or object you want to animate. Click Add Effect , select the entrance, emphasis, or exit animations you want, and then click OK . To change the order of animations, under Animation order , select the animation, and then click an arrow to move it up or down in the list. Select options for timing, direction, and speed. To set additional options, click Effect Options . To see a preview of the animation, click Play . At any time, you can preview the animation for a slide by clicking Animation Preview on the Slide Show menu. You can also view the slide show to see your animation in action.
  3. The photo of the woman on the exercise bicycle enters with a Zoom Out effect. Each bulleted item appears separately using a Box Out effect, accompanied by a sound. The final text block appears with a Box Out effect. For instructions on creating animations, see the notes page for slide 3.
  4. The photo of the woman on the exercise bicycle enters with a Zoom Out effect. Each bulleted item appears separately using a Box Out effect, accompanied by a sound. The final text block appears with a Box Out effect. For instructions on creating animations, see the notes page for slide 3.
  5. The photo of the woman on the exercise bicycle enters with a Zoom Out effect. Each bulleted item appears separately using a Box Out effect, accompanied by a sound. The final text block appears with a Box Out effect. For instructions on creating animations, see the notes page for slide 3.
  6. This slide uses a number of overlapping text boxes and photos. The animation order causes the items to appear on the slide at different times so that they do not overlap when the slide show is viewed. For example, the introductory text that appears in the upper-right corner when the slide first appears has an exit animation that occurs before any other element appears there. Similarly, the two movies that play never appear on screen at the same time. The large photo of the skier remains static on the slide. Text boxes appear, with Light Speed effects, first in the lower left and later in the upper right. Two picture frames with ski movies appear with a spiral effect. The slide show pauses while they play. This is followed by a final text block displaying the rental hours, which fades in with a spiral effect and replaces the upper right text. For instructions on creating animations, see the notes page for slide 3.
  7. The large photo of the people on the sled fades out as bulleted items appear, one at a time, with a crawl in from left effect. This is followed by a fade in of the log fire photo and the line of text beginning, “Ask the concierge ...,” which appears with a crawl in from right entry effect. For instructions on creating animations, see the notes page for slide 3. To set up the presentation so that users will use the hyperlinks to navigate from one slide to another: On the Slide Show menu, click Set Up Show . Under Show type , click Browsed at a kiosk (full screen) , and then click OK . Photo credits are listed in the Office for Mac Read Me file.
