Presentation of the new UI for TYPO3 5.0.
It showed the new way to the new UI and the UI itself, based on Wireframes. We cover some Theoretical topics for e.g.: Underlaying guiding principles, Some Inspirations, typical CMS Personas, our General Concepts and the Concept as Wireframes.
This is the extended Version of the Presentation. At the UXcamp 2010 #uxce10 we showed a shorter Version, which was still to long, sorry for that :) This is the Presentation from the TYPO3 Conference 2010 in Dallas.
Using XPages out of the box lets you build good looking and well performing applications. However, as XPage applications become bigger and more complex, performance can become an issue and, if it comes to scalability and speed optimization, there are a couple of things to take into consideration. Learn how to use partial refresh and partial execution mode and how to monitor its execution using a JSF LifeCycle monitor to avoid multiple re-calculation of controls. We will show tools that can allow you to profile your code, readily available from OpenNTF, along with a demonstration of how to use them to improve the speed of your code. Still writing SSJS and encounter a significant slow down when using Script Libraries? See, how you can improve the speed of your application using JAVA instead of JS, JSON and even @formulas.
This presentation reviews of the many aspects of PHP performance that can impact day-to-day living. It explores basic concepts for resolution when PHP performance has got you down. The focus is on Zend Server configuration options including, but not limited to: caching, Apache settings, PHP syntax fundamentals, diagnosing bottlenecks, and DB2/SQL optimization.

With a guaranteed minimum of 60 administration tips in 60 minutes you will walk out with a list of items to immediately help you tune your collaboration environment. Covering IBM Domino, Sametime, Connections, Traveler and more will have you eager to get back and implement some of the ideas. We will take best practices from the my SocialBizUg Admin Tips newsletter, customer case stories and other best practices. Have no fear, we will move faster that you can write so everything will be available for you to download. This is an ode to the hundreds of tips brought to you by the letters M and G (Mooney and Gab) over the years.
If your web application runs slowly, your reputation and business could suffer. To restore confidence, you must improve performance immediately, because frustrated users might not return to give you a second chance. You need “Web Performance First Aid.”
In this talk, Alan will share "first aid" techniques that can improve web performance within minutes.
Once your site starts to run faster, positive word of mouth may be generated among users, restoring confidence in your efforts and giving you breathing room to examine your application for further improvements.
Particular focus will be given to free tools that help diagnose performance bottlenecks, how to configure the Apache web server for speed, and making best use of the unique characteristics of IBM i.

Everyone knows installing PHP on IBM i is easy. Just download the save file and run the RSTLICPGM command. But not everyone knows what that RSTLICPGM does. What is it putting on the machine? Where is it putting it? How does it all work together? In this session, we'll take a look at the IFS directories added by the Zend Server installer, to see what's in them. We'll see where PHP and PHP extensions, Apache and FastCGI configurations, log files, and more are kept. We'll also talk about how these new file objects interact with existing prerequisite software on the IBM i to present dynamic pages to the web. This session is for PHP developers and administrators interested in learning how PHP fits in with the unique operating environment of IBM i.
What We Wish We Had Known: Becoming an IBM Connections AdministratorGabriella Davis
Presentation on IBM Connections given by Gab Davis and Paul Mooney at IBM Connect 2014. In this session we shared our experiences of Connections as administrators and what we feel is useful information for every admin to know.
Having a full set of Sametime features available on mobile devices has been a priority for IBM so if you are deploying, whether it’s the complete feature set including meetings audio and video or just instant messaging you can extend the functionality using IBM Connections Chat and IBM Connections Meetings applications which are available for most mobile platforms. In this session we will review both the backend server configuration and the features available via the mobile applications and discuss usability, bandwidth and security implications
Best and worst practices deploying IBM ConnectionsLetsConnect
Depending on deployment size, operating system and security considerations you have different options to configure IBM Connections. This session will show good and bad examples on how to do it from multiple customer deployments. We will describe things we found and how you can optimize your systems. Main topics include simple (documented) tasks that should be applied, missing documentation, automated user synchronization, TDI solutions and user synchronization, performance tuning, security optimizing and planning Single Sign On for mail, IBM Sametime and SPNEGO. This is valuable information that will help you to be successful in your next IBM Connections deployment project. Don’t miss it.
Logging Wars: A Cross-Product Tech Clash Between Experts Benedek Menesi
Things WILL get VERY technical when two experts face-off in a unique session that explores polar perceptions regarding various types of logs, verbosity levels, data extraction, responses for alerts, and more. Be it Domino, Sametime, or Traveler operating on-prem. or in Hybrid and Cloud environments, it is vital to have an understanding of log data structure, what is (or isn't) logged and why, and how to search logs effectively. But aren't there ways to find your information without having to pipe everything into the log? Where does one's best practice end and another's begin? From this collision of opposing viewpoints and real-world stories, you'll take away knowledge and tools ready to deploy to various scenarios, products, and log types.
Domino 10 shipped jam packed with awesome new features you'll love. And in this webinar, you'll learn how to bring the best out of them with the Ytria tools. You'll learn about deletion logging, replication and synch-up, Domino On Disk Structures (ODS) and what they mean, and more—as well as how you can enable and enhance these features using our upcoming EZ Suite version 19.

TYPO3 Flow and the Joy of Development (FOSDEM 2013)Robert Lemke
Six years ago, the TYPO3 community was seeking for a framework as a foundation for their new CMS. There was none satisfying their wishlist of features and architecture and thus a new one was made - top notch, built without the pressure of day to day work. In the meantime TYPO3 Flow has become one of the “serious” PHP frameworks which is built on two paradigms: harness the complexity of enterprise applications but at the same time be concise and developer friendly. Or in short: Flow brings back the joy of development in PHP.
This session introduces some of the main features of TYPO3 Flow 2.0 and gives you an idea about how it relates to the well established frameworks on the market.

PAD-3126 - Evolving the DevOps Organization around IBM PureApplication System...Hendrik van Run
Within the Dutch Tax and Customs Administration (DTCA), IBM PureApplication System is a strategic platform alongside z Systems and Linux on x86-64. We have been working with PureApplication for over three years and have over 1,000 cores installed. We run a wide range of IBM software, including WebSphere, DB2, BPM, IBM Connections, MQ and WebSphere Portal. Making PureApplication a success required us to grow our team from three to over 25 people. But perhaps even more importantly, we have made fundamental changes to the way we work within our organization. We have transitioned from siloed teams to a DevOps team that aligns with the PureApplication platform. The DevOps team now owns the overall responsibility for the solutions.
Data Science in Production: Technologies That Drive Adoption of Data Science ...Nir Yungster
Critical to a data science team’s ability to drive impact is its effectiveness in incorporating its solutions into new or existing products. When collaborating with other engineering teams, and especially when solutions must operate at scale, technological choices can be critical factors in determining what type of outcome you'll have. We walk through strategies and specific technologies - Airflow, Docker, Kubernetes - that can help promote successful collaboration between data science and engineering.
Workday "Creating an Effective Developer Experience on Kubernetes"Daniel Bryant
In a productive cloud-native development workflow, individual teams can build and ship software independently from each other. But with a rapidly evolving Cloud Native Landscape, creating an effective developer workflow on Kubernetes can be challenging. We are all creating software to support the delivery of value to our customers and to the business, and therefore, the developer experience from idea generation to running (and observing) in production must be fast, reliable, and provide good feedback.
The UNESCO Internet website is the main tool used to disseminate information about the Organization and its programme of activities. A respected source of information, the UNESCO website is ranked among the top five of UN family websites and receives on average 1.8 million unique visitors (7 million page views) per month.
The Secretariat is located in its Paris headquarters and in 52 field offices around the world, and demands the high availability of the website, a mission critical working tool for the Secretariat and its communities.
In this Talk Chakir Piro (UNESCO) and Olivier Dobberkau (dkd) will give a short overview of the history of the usage of TYPO3 at www.unesco.org and how we are migrating more content from an old cms to TYPO3.
We will introduce the setup involved to deploy a multinational and multilingual website with TYPO3. Further on we will describe the requirements of such a project dealing with a large amount of stakeholders, communication channels and international events.
Chakir Piro will describe the role the department he works in to filter and aggregate the needs of the different sectors, field and cluster offices of UNESCO.
We will give practical insights on how organizations can adopt a fast track to deliver daily content to its website visitors.
Presentation given at the OpenStack summit in Paris (Kilo) on Tue Nov 4th.
Last summit I had the pleasure to present a talk which encountered some success "Are enterprise ready for the OpenStack transformation?" (also published on SlideShare) . This talk is a follow up on what are the best practices that are successful in operating the transformation. We will first focus on identifying the right use cases for a generic enterprise, then define a roadmap with an organisational and a technical track, to finish with the definition what would be our success criterias for our group. This will happen as a workshop summary based on the multiple engagements eNovance has been delivering over the past 2 years.

Book Formatting: Quality Control Checks for DesignersConfidence Ago
This presentation was made to help designers who work in publishing houses or format books for printing ensure quality.
Quality control is vital to every industry. This is why every department in a company need create a method they use in ensuring quality. This, perhaps, will not only improve the quality of products and bring errors to the barest minimum, but take it to a near perfect finish.
It is beyond a moot point that a good book will somewhat be judged by its cover, but the content of the book remains king. No matter how beautiful the cover, if the quality of writing or presentation is off, that will be a reason for readers not to come back to the book or recommend it.
So, this presentation points designers to some important things that may be missed by an editor that they could eventually discover and call the attention of the editor.
Transforming Brand Perception and Boosting Profitabilityaaryangarg12
In today's digital era, the dynamics of brand perception, consumer behavior, and profitability have been profoundly reshaped by the synergy of branding, social media, and website design. This research paper investigates the transformative power of these elements in influencing how individuals perceive brands and products and how this transformation can be harnessed to drive sales and profitability for businesses.
Through an exploration of brand psychology and consumer behavior, this study sheds light on the intricate ways in which effective branding strategies, strategic social media engagement, and user-centric website design contribute to altering consumers' perceptions. We delve into the principles that underlie successful brand transformations, examining how visual identity, messaging, and storytelling can captivate and resonate with target audiences.
Methodologically, this research employs a comprehensive approach, combining qualitative and quantitative analyses. Real-world case studies illustrate the impact of branding, social media campaigns, and website redesigns on consumer perception, sales figures, and profitability. We assess the various metrics, including brand awareness, customer engagement, conversion rates, and revenue growth, to measure the effectiveness of these strategies.
The results underscore the pivotal role of cohesive branding, social media influence, and website usability in shaping positive brand perceptions, influencing consumer decisions, and ultimately bolstering sales and profitability. This paper provides actionable insights and strategic recommendations for businesses seeking to leverage branding, social media, and website design as potent tools to enhance their market position and financial success.
You could be a professional graphic designer and still make mistakes. There is always the possibility of human error. On the other hand if you’re not a designer, the chances of making some common graphic design mistakes are even higher. Because you don’t know what you don’t know. That’s where this blog comes in. To make your job easier and help you create better designs, we have put together a list of common graphic design mistakes that you need to avoid.
