T.W. Ratana was a Maori farmer who received a vision from an angel giving him healing powers. He used these powers to help many Maori people, especially those who were unable to walk, deaf, or blind. Ratana established a new faith and church that focused on caring for others and celebrating the days he received his powers and later died. His message of helping the disadvantaged spread widely among Maori communities in New Zealand.
