Story clearly indicates what went wrong and
accountability is taken
Majority of the story focuses on lessons learned (i.e.
personal and professional development)
Student shows what they would do differently if faced
with the situation again, or what they already did since
(comeback story)
Generally aim to be: authentic, humble, accountable
11. Skills Matrix Activity
Applicants have 2 minutes to tell a story (either
success or failure)
Interviewers have 1 minute to provide feedback
Switch roles!
12. Giving Feedback
What is the storyteller missing from their story?
Is is specific enough? Is it concise?
What is confusing? Is the skill relevant?
Are there step-by-step actions?
Is the story appropriate for an interview?
Would the story be able to be told within 1.5 - 2 minutes?

Editor's Notes
A lot of you want to figure out how to write about your past experiences (namely, high school) in a resume format and how to apply the skills learned in those settings to to future job opportunities. Interview skills
Talk about people being nervous to network and how they can start in the classroom, meeting new people, talking to them before class etc.
Split result and link because link is now mandatory (focusing on the link), include an example of a success story and ask students where it can be improved
4 people per island, each student reads out a story in small groups
choose a story that you feel comfortable with, or the one that you're struggling with
Group member guess a skill
Pull 6 job postings (marketing, finance, accounting)
go through a job posting with the class
soft skills vs hard skills
articles that they've read, podcasts, other places they've learned
Differentiation,
reading between the lines
making inferences to figure out what people are doing on a day to day basis
how can you make the story you shared relevant to the job
If they downloaded the template immediately after it was posted, the failure stories weren’t updated
