Turkey is located in both Eastern Europe and Western Asia, bordered by several countries. The official language is Turkish, which is related to languages spoken in Asia. Turks have a long tradition of art music similar to neighboring Islamic regions. One form of Turkish puppetry involves shows portraying a poor Greek man and his family during Ottoman rule, through which viewers can learn about Turkish customs. The puppets have two-dimensional profiles, made of camel skin joined at the torso and legs with pins, depicting characters in knee-high shorts and wool slippers.

- Turkey is bordered on the northwest by Bulgaria and Greece; on the north by the
Black Sea; on the northeast by Georgia and Armenia; on the east by Iran; on the
south by Iraq, Syria, and the Mediterranean Sea; and on the west by the Aegean

- Turkish, the official language of the country, is related to the Uralic-Altaic languages

- Turks are proud of their centuries-old art music tradition, which is similar to the
music of nearby Islamic areas such as Saudi Arabia, Iran, and northern India.
- One kind of puppet show is about a poor hunchbacked Greek, his right hand is
always depicted long, his clothes are ragged and patched, and his feet are always
bare. He lives in a poor cottage with his with Aglaia and his three sons, during the

- During the puppet shows one can learn a great deal
about Turkish traditions and social customs.
