2. Exposition The setting is in the City, where education is the top priority, however badly the students get treated. The plot is that a group of students called the “Truancy” fight the Enforcers (police) of the City to stop the harsh education system. The main characters are Zyid (Zen), Umasi, Tack, Suzy, Noni, and the Mayor of the City. Zyid, Umasi, Tack, and Noni are around 16 years old, and Suzy is about 12. The mayor is a middle-aged man. Zyid has a stiff personality, and he is a killer. He would kill a member of the Truancy if they disobeyed him. Umasi is a calm mentor who wants only the best for who he’s teaching. He is aware of his brother running the Truancy, and he doesn’t like it. Tack is a kid who went through the harsh education system before running away to the Truancy in desperation. He became Zyid’s personal assistant, and he wanted to kill Zyid. Suzy is Tack’s sister who saved her best friend from execution, killed by Zyid. The story happens a different times during the summer in a probably 3-month period. It is in a city at various Truancy hideouts.
3. Rising Action In the beginning of the book, the reader gets to understand the true nature of the Educators. You see the Zero Tolerance Policy put in place, where Tack’s sister Suzy dies defending her friend. The Zero Tolerance Policy expels and executes any student who breaks the harsh rules of the school. Tack decides to run away, and becomes a member of the Truancy, an organization meant to kill Enforcers to show that they don’t like the school system one bit. The students realize that the Educators and Enforcers are getting stronger, and somehow they needed to be stopped.
4. Climax The climax was when the battle became fiercest between the Truancy and the new Chief Enforcer’s team of students promised with instant graduation after conquering the Truancy. The students fighting the Truants were weak, but the leader of these students, Edward, was so strong he killed two of the strongest Truants in all of the Truancy. Tack’s mentor, Umasi, who had taught Edward thinking that he would put his powers to good use, killed Edward himself, knowing that only he was capable. After this death, the Mayor, who was Umasi and the leader of the Truancy Zyid’s father, was very concerned about this issue. He had no idea Zyid was a Truant, or that Umasi lived in an abandoned district of the city selling lemonade as well as killing his best Chief Enforcer, Edward.
5. Falling Action Noni, Zyid’s former assistant, and Tack disturb an Educator meeting, causing chaos in the city. Zyid and Tack duel, because Zyid caused Tack’s sister Suzy’s death. Tack believes Zyid should die and Tack become the leader of the Truancy.
