Ricardo Technologies conducted a final water test of their unmanned underwater vehicle at Vellayani lake. The team, accompanied by the principal, Srikumaran Nair and Pradeep, tested the vehicle with the guidance of Rahul VR and Krishnanunni. Trinity College of Engineering held a wire looping competition as part of National Technology Day to promote interest in electrical problem solving. A team of five S6 EEE students solved the electrical circuit design task in the shortest time to win first place in the competition.

The forms were handed over to the IMA Organ Donation lead to promote organ donation awareness among students. The event was jointly organized by Young Indians and Trinity College of Engineering, and featured the release of balloons by the Mechanical Engineering department. Representatives from Young Indians Trivandrum chapter and guests praised the students' social commitment and toured the college's Innovation zone and IEDC.

S6 ECE students at Trinity College of Engineering organized a two-day LED cube workshop led by Krishannunni, CEO of Ricardo Technix, to teach 30 students and some from LBS College of Engineering the basics of electronics hardware and Arduino programming. On the second day, students successfully assembled LED cubes and learned Arduino programming, circuit making, and soldering basics. The Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering also organized an industrial visit for fourth semester B.Tech Electrical students to the 340 MW Sabarigiri Hydro Electric Station to get familiar with power generation and they also enjoyed a boat ride, and visited Wonderla Amusement Park and Lulu Mall as part of the trip.

Students from Recardians (S8 Mech) at Trinity College of Engineering successfully conducted the first test dive of an Unmanned Underwater Vehicle in Vellayani Lake, using the UUV to live stream visual footage from below the surface and sense the depth, pressure, and temperature of the water. The robotic arm on the device can also be used for capturing objects. S8 students Jithin J, Nayana B Nath, Athira M B and Kavya Sreekumar are doing their final year project on "Optical Chopper with Varying duty cycle" under the guidance of Asst. Prof. Titto Anujan. They visited the Opto Electronics Department of Kerala University for expert knowledge. They have completed building an optical chopper device that uses two chopper wheels, a semiconductor laser designed and built by the students, and a PWM programmed chip to vary the chopper wheel frequency and chop a laser beam. Trinity College of Engineering hosted a PSC examination and an invigilators meeting was held prior to the exam.

S6 Civil engineering students from Trinity College of Engineering attended a four-day survey camp on campus as part of their syllabus. The students successfully completed contour mapping of the campus. The camp was guided by Assistant Professors Nitin and Alex along with lab instructors Mrs. Sindhu, Ms. Aswathy, Shri. Adarsh, and Shri. Prasanth. Additionally, school students from VHSE Paraniyam learned electrical house wiring in the EEE labs at Trinity as part of their subject on electrical and electronics.

Trinity IEDC students from various departments attended a two-day workshop on entrepreneurship development organized by the Kerala Startup Mission and ICT Academy. The workshop was held at LBS Institute of Technology for Women. The students received participation certificates for attending. Special thanks was given to the IEDC Nodal Officer and Assistant Nodal Officer for coordinating the program. Additionally, final year ECE student Bhadrapriya was selected as campus ambassador by the Municipal Corporation Kattakada Taluk Office to help with a new voters registration campaign on campus this semester. Lastly, students from the ECE and EEE departments attended a seminar on Internet of Things conducted by IPCS.

1. Trinity College of Engineering is hosting the inauguration of the Trivandrum Technolodge on September 14th at 2pm.
2. The Technolodge will be inaugurated by Shri M Swaminathan IAS, Secretary of the Department of Electronics and IT for the Government of Kerala. It will also be attended by leaders in the IT and startup sector of Kerala.
3. The Technolodge, created by the Trinity College team, will function as a secure 24/7 facility for startups and has already received interest from half a dozen startups to take up space there.

A Strategic Approach: GenAI in Education
Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies such as Generative AI, Image Generators and Large Language Models have had a dramatic impact on teaching, learning and assessment over the past 18 months. The most immediate threat AI posed was to Academic Integrity with Higher Education Institutes (HEIs) focusing their efforts on combating the use of GenAI in assessment. Guidelines were developed for staff and students, policies put in place too. Innovative educators have forged paths in the use of Generative AI for teaching, learning and assessments leading to pockets of transformation springing up across HEIs, often with little or no top-down guidance, support or direction.
This Gasta posits a strategic approach to integrating AI into HEIs to prepare staff, students and the curriculum for an evolving world and workplace. We will highlight the advantages of working with these technologies beyond the realm of teaching, learning and assessment by considering prompt engineering skills, industry impact, curriculum changes, and the need for staff upskilling. In contrast, not engaging strategically with Generative AI poses risks, including falling behind peers, missed opportunities and failing to ensure our graduates remain employable. The rapid evolution of AI technologies necessitates a proactive and strategic approach if we are to remain relevant.
