TRIGONOMETRY, HEIGHT AND DISTANCE QUESTION BANK FOR APTITUDE TEST by : DR. T.K. JAIN AFTERSCHO ☺ OL centre for social entrepreneurship sivakamu veterinary hospital road bikaner 334001 rajasthan, india FOR – PGPSE / CSE PARTICIPANTS mobile : 91+9414430763
My words.... Here I present a few basic questions on trigonometry. I wish that more people should become entrepreneurs. An ordinary Indian entrepreneur wishes to remain an honest entrepreneur and contribute to the development of nation but we have to strengthen those institutions which truly promote entrepreneurship, not just degree granting institutions. Let us work together to promote knowledge, wisdom, social development and education. We believe in free education for all, free support for all, entrepreneurship opportunities and training for all. Let us work together for these goals. ... I alone cant do much, I need support of perosns like you .......... ...
What is Sin? = perpendicular / hypoeneuse
What is Cos ? Base / Hypoteneuse
What is Tan ? Perpendicular / Base
What is Cosec? It is reverse of Sin = Hypoteneuse / Perpendicular
What is Sec? It is reverse of cos = Hypoteneuse / Base
What is Cot ? It is reverse of Tan = Base / Perpendicular
What are different values of Sin? Degrees : 0 30 45 60 90 take square root of : - 0/4 ¼ 2/4 ¾ 4/4 so Sin 30degree = ½ and sin 60 degree is 1.7/2 and sin 90 degree is 1. Sin 45 = 1/1.4 (square root of 2/4) answer the same value repeat from 180 degree to 270 degree
What are different values of Cos? 0 30 45 60 90 take square root of : - 4/4 3/4 2/4 1/4 0/4 so cos 30degree = 1.7/2 and cos 0 degree is 1. cos 45 = 1/1.4 (square root of 2/4) answer
What are different values of Tan? Degrees : 0 30 45 60 90 divide sin values by cos values 0/1 1/1.73 1 1.7 Infinite
Convert 5pi / 6 radians into degrees ? Pi = 180 degree = (5*180)/6 = 150 answer
What is quadrant ? A circle can be divided in 4 equal parts. From 0 degree to 90 degree is 1 st quadrant from 90 to 180 is 2 nd quadrant from 180 degree to 270 degree we have 3 rd quadrant from 270 to 360 we have 4 th quadrant.
Basic rules All values are positive in first quadrants in 2 nd quadrant only Sin and Cosec are positive in 3 rd quadrant only Tan and Cot are positive in 4 th quadrant only Cos and Sec are positive
What is Sin 150 degree? Solve it as :sin 180 – sin30 we get 0 - ½ it is in 2 nd quadrant so it will be positive =1/2 answer
What is cos 135 degree ? Solve it as : - cos 180 – cos 45 it is in 2 nd quadrant, so it is negative =- 1/1.4 answer
What is tan 210 degree ? It is in 3 rd quadrant, so it will be positive = 180 + 30 degree = 1/1.73 answer
What is Sec 330 degree? It is 4 th quadrant, so it will be positive = 360 degree – 30 degree reverse of Cos 30 degree =2/ 1.73 answer
What is Cosec 390 ? It is in 1 st quadrant so it will be positive 360 degree + 30 degree reverse of sin 30 degree = = 2 answer
Shadow of a building is 20 meters long. Its angle of elevation is 60 degree. What is its height ? Height = perpendicular we already know base, we have to calculate perpendicular we can use formula of Tan Tan 60 degree = 1.73 P / B = 1.73 or P / 20 = 1.73 P = 34.6 meters answer
The angle of elevation of the top of a tower 30 m high, from two points on the level ground on its opposite sides are 45 degrees and 60 degrees. What is the distance between the two points? We have perpendicular = 30 meters we have to calculate base Tan 45 = P/B = 1 = 40 / B = 1 so B = 40 Tan 60 = P / B = 1.73, 30/B =1.73, B =17.3 distance between the two points =40 – 17.3 = 22.7 answer
From the top of a building 30 meters high, the top and bottom of a tower have angles of depression of 30 and 45 degrees. What is the height of the tower? We are given height and angle of 45. we know that Tan 45 is 1, so base is also 30 meters. Tan 30 = 1/1.73 p / b = 1/1.73 p / 30 = 1/1.73 p = 17.3 height of tower = 30 -17.3 = 22.7 meters answer
