For three of the units you will carry out
tasks/ assignments throughout the course.
Your teacher will mark these.
For unit 1, The UK Travel and Tourism
Sector, you will sit an exam that is marked
externally.

12. Look at the map of Liverpool below. What are the main points of access?
i.e. what forms of transport could you use to get there from another town
or city in the UK, Europe or the world? What evidence is there on the
map?
13. Warwick Castle is a popular tourist attraction in the
Midlands. Research Warwick Castle and answer the
questions below.
1. Where is Warwick? What large towns and cities are
there near by?
2. What transport links are there to Warwick Castle
(think road and rail)
3. Who runs Warwick Castle and what other attractions
do they own?
4. What would attract visitors to Warwick Castle?
5. Why do you think the castle puts on special events
such as celebrating Halloween in October?
6. How does the castle encourage groups to visit?
15. Choose a coastal resort or city in the world you have been to or would like to go to on
holiday and produce a fact file/ information sheet that includes the following:
oTwo maps, a local one of your chosen place and a national one (i.e. one of the whole
country) locating your destination. You could use Google Maps or Google images
oAnything people would need to know before going there e.g. time difference with the
UK, climate, entry requirements e.g. Visa, vaccinations?
oDetails of four visitor attractions in the area. Of the four, try to find at least one natural
attraction, one historical and one man made e.g. a theme park. Write a few sentences
about each attraction. What is there to do there? What visitors (e.g. older people,
families with young children, couples, teenagers, school groups) would most enjoy going
there and why?
oInformation about three different places to stay e.g. a hotel, a campsite and a villa or
apartment. Look for places that have particularly special or unusual features.
oA brief review of what visitors most like about your chosen place. You could use Trip
Advisor to help you.
