Webinar: Flash to Flash to Cloud – Three Steps to Ending the Storage NightmareStorage Switzerland
Three primary storage challenges that keep IT up at night:
* How to keep up with application performance demand
* How to affordably manage and store the vast amount of data that IT has to store
* How to protect that data so that applications can quickly return to service if a server, storage system or entire data center fails
To meet these challenges IT has either used multiple solutions from multiple vendors, creating cost overruns and massive complexity or they have to try to consolidate to a single vendor via hyperconvergence or cloud migration leading to inefficient use of resources and feature shortfalls.

Assignment 1: Your Mobile Ordering Project team needs to provide a summary of your analysis findings to IT leadership and other department stakeholders. You are assigned to create the material.
Create
material that:
Illustrates the current information system, capturing data from in-store ordering and payment processes
Illustrates the new information system that will be needed when mobile ordering and payment is added
Identifies potential uses of cloud computing technology, including the names of the cloud type and likely cloud computing services
Identifies the security vulnerabilities the new information system could create
Provides recommendations to mitigate security concerns
Identifies any ethical and privacy concerns leadership should review.
Use
diagrams to illustrate the information systems mentioned above. You can create diagrams using Microsoft® Word, Microsoft® PowerPoint®, Microsoft® Visio® or another program of your choice.
Document
your summary using one of the following options:
A 1- to 2-page Microsoft® Word document
A 10- to 12-slide Microsoft® PowerPoint® presentation with detailed speaker notes
Assignment 2: You are an IT specialist in a private medical practice. The practice includes three physical locations and 35 employees.
Until now, all IT technology and software was fully managed on-premises. However, the practice is adding another location and five new employees. Your organization will need additional storage capacity and computing power.
You have been asked to investigate available cloud computing options and recommend whether cloud computing should be used or whether the investment should be made to maintain 100% internal IT management.
Compare
and

the use of Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) to internal investment.
Include
the following in your comparison:
The benefits of each
The risks or vulnerabilities of each
Additional information you would need to make a recommendation for which would most align with the organization's needs

Techniques to optimize the pagerank algorithm usually fall in two categories. One is to try reducing the work per iteration, and the other is to try reducing the number of iterations. These goals are often at odds with one another. Skipping computation on vertices which have already converged has the potential to save iteration time. Skipping in-identical vertices, with the same in-links, helps reduce duplicate computations and thus could help reduce iteration time. Road networks often have chains which can be short-circuited before pagerank computation to improve performance. Final ranks of chain nodes can be easily calculated. This could reduce both the iteration time, and the number of iterations. If a graph has no dangling nodes, pagerank of each strongly connected component can be computed in topological order. This could help reduce the iteration time, no. of iterations, and also enable multi-iteration concurrency in pagerank computation. The combination of all of the above methods is the STICD algorithm. [sticd] For dynamic graphs, unchanged components whose ranks are unaffected can be skipped altogether.

Transforming The
Economics of Data
Data Growth
Data is growing at an explosive rate
- over 667 exabytes of data will flow
through the Internet alone in 2014.
What is exabyte - that's 667
quintillion bytes ... 667 with 18 zeros
after!!
This tremendous growth places
intense demands on storage
systems, especially flash arrays and
storage virtualization. How can
clients transform the economics of
data?
New Challenges From Big Data
Companies are facing challenges from data:
Growing Data – not just the traditional structured data from traditional, but also the
unstructured data from social media
Storage inefficiency – companies are buying 24 percent more storage but less than
half is used.
Storage complexity – More data is generated across departments which is not
linked across the organization

Transforming The
Economics of Data
Making Sense of Data
How can we make sense of the data and enable the infrastructure to support it?
Optimize the storage with real time compression technology – store 5x more data
and reduce cost by 60%
Maximize performance with flash – business applications can run 3.5x faster
Enable new workload with software defined storage – simply storage management
and access to get data when needed, easy to deploy cloud, social and mobile
platforms.
Stay Ahead Of Competition
With the right infrastructure and technology,
business can stay ahead of competition.
Each division can access data and use it for
competitive advantage:
Sales gets insights and are able to run
analytics needed to make more
profitable business
Marketing can run highly effective
marketing campaigns with better
customer insights
Finance can keep cost under lock with
more efficient technology

Think Differently
Data is growing at an explosive rate, placing stress on organizations. How can
clients transform the economics of data?
I would like to share a white-boarding video that we created to help explain
complex concepts in layman language.
In this video, we use animation to share about the impact of big data and how
