This case study is about a precision plastic company that produces medical instruments and photography equipment. The company has production and installation departments. Installation workers are paid less and have low job satisfaction. The manager, Bill Smith, lacks management skills like motivation, supervision, communication and planning. This has led to increased labor turnover and individual goals taking priority over organizational goals. The manager needs to improve his convincing abilities, get worker feedback, understand their needs, and motivate them to increase productivity while maintaining job satisfaction.
