According to Jones, effective teachers :
✓ conserve time
✓ mean business
✓ have defined limits on behavior
✓ engage students, and
✓ use incentives to increase motivation.
To ensure that teachers have as much time as possible for instruction, there should be a
classroom structure for rules, routines and responsibility. Students will learn what they are
expected to do and not do in the classroom. Students should learn to save time through quick
transitions.

Bandura is known for his social learning theory. He is quite different from other learning theorists
who look at learning as a direct result of conditioning, reinforcement, and punishment. Bandura
asserts that most human behavior is learned through observation, imitation, and modeling.

Responsible Thinking Process (RTP) if properly used, is designed to teach educators how to teach
students to develop a sense of responsibility for their own lives and to respect the lives of
everyone around them.
This unique classroom discipline process is both non-manipulative and non-punitive. It creates
mutual respect by teaching students how to think through what they are doing in relation to the
rules of wherever they are.
RTP helps students:
 understand what they want from life for themselves and
 learn how to develop plans for getting what they want, while
 not infringing on the rights of others.

Constructivism is ‘an approach to learning that holds that people actively construct or make their
own knowledge and that reality is determined by the experiences of the learner’
(Elliott et al., 2000, p. 256)
