6. Courses - B.A. LL.B. (5 YEARS COURSE)
Goal of the Programme
The B.A. LL.B. (5 years) Programme has been designed taking into view the needs of various legal industries. The programme will
be regularly updated to cope with the ever-changing legal demands of the industry. Our goal is to provide the requisite platform
to budding lawyers and law professionals to sharpen their reasoning, analytical and communication skills along with requisite
legal knowledge so that they can meet with confidence the future challenges of law. Emphasis is laid on enhancing computer
skills, soft skills, moot court, reading & comprehending the judgments.
Admission Criterion
SRMS College of Law is affiliated to Mahatma Jyotiba Phule University, Bareilly. Therefore, candidates seeking admission in SRMS
college of law must register themselves with University through online portal (www.mjpru.ac.in). And After University registration
candidates have to register themselves at SRMS college of Law..
Eligibility Criteria
(As per rules the of BAR Council of India, Rule 7 of legal Education 2008) Candidate must have passed 10+2 (in any stream) not
below 45% of total marks for GENERAL candidates, and not below 40% of total marks for SC/ST candidates. Provided that such a
minimum qualifying marks shall not automatically entitle a person to get admission into an institution but only shall entitle the
person concerned to fulfill other institutional criteria notified by the institution concerned or by the Government concerned from
time to time to apply for admission.
Moot Court & Internship
(As per the rules of BAR Council of India) Every student may be required to do at least 3 (Three) moot courts in a year. Each
student shall have to undergo 20 weeks internship under NGO, trial or appellate advocates, judiciary, legal regulatory authorities,
legislatures and parliament, other legal functionaries, market institutions, law firms, companies, local self-government, and other
such bodies as the university shall stipulate where law is practised wither in action or in dispute resolution or in management.
However, internship in any year cannot be for a continuous period of more than 4 (four) weeks and all students shall at least gone
through once in the entire academic period with trial and appellate advocates.
7. Courses - LL.B. (3 YEARS COURSE)

8. CURRICULUM
Both B.A. LL.B (5 years) & LL.B (3 years) are semester wise programmes(2 semesters annually). Therefore, there will be 10
semesters and 6 semesters respectively.
B.A. LL.B (5 years):
A student of B.A.LL.B has to take not less than thirty law papers in all which will include twenty compulsory papers, four
compulsory practical papers and six optional papers. Besides thirty law papers, a student has to study twenty papers from B.A
course. This will include one major subject consisting of six papers and English consisting of three papers and other minor subjects
consisting not less than three papers each. Thus student of B.A. LL.B has to study 50 papers (20 B.A and 30 law papers).The end
semester exam will be conducted by MJP Rohilkhand University and will be of total 100 marks per subject (90 marks theory & 10
marks written assignments). However, the subject combination and marks pattern will be always subject to University rules.
LL.B (3 years):
This course will comprise 28 law subjects. Each student shall be required to opt three optional papers in LL.B fifth semester and
LL.B sixth semester respectively. The end semester exam will be conducted by MJP Rohilkhand University and will be of total 100
marks per subject (90 marks theory & 10 marks assignments). However, the subject combination and marks pattern will be always
subject to University rules.
Attendence
(Rule 12 of BAR Council of India) No student of any degree programme shall be allowed to take the end semester test in a subject
if the student concerned has not attended minimum of 70% of the classes held in the subject concerned as also the moot court
room exercises, tutorials and practical training conducted in the subject taken together.
Provided that if a student for any exceptional reasons fails to attend the 70% of the classes held in any subject, the dean of the
University or the principal of the Centre for legal education (College of Law), as the case may be may allow the student to take the
test if the student concerned attended atleast 65% of the classes held in the subject concerned and attended 70% of classes in all
the subjects taken together. The similar power shall rest with the Vice chancellor or director of National Law University, or his
authorized representative in the absence of the Dean of Law.
9. CLAT 2019
About CLAT 2019
CLAT 2019 also known as Common Law Admission Test 2019 will be conducted by National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO)
for the admission year 2019-2020. The CLAT 2019 will be conducted on May 26, 2019. The common law admission test will be
administered offline. The national-level law entrance examination will be held to offer admissions into the undergraduate law
programme.
CLAT 2019 Syllabus
English including comprehension:
The English section will test the candidate’s proficiency in English based on comprehension passages and grammar. In the
comprehension section, candidates will be assessed on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of
words used therein, etc. The grammar section requires correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in
sentences with appropriate words, etc.
CLAT 2019 also known as Common Law Admission Test 2019 will be conducted by National Law University Odisha, Cuttack (NLUO)

General Knowledge and Current Affairs:
The General knowledge will be evaluated on the general awareness including static general knowledge. Questions on current
affairs will test the candidate’s on their knowledge of national and international current affairs.
10. CLAT 2019
Mathematics:
This section will test the candidate’s knowledge on elementary mathematics, i.e. maths taught upto 10th Class/Standard
Legal Aptitude
This section will test the candidate’s interest towards the study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions
may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some
propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the
questions accordingly.
Logical Reasoning
The purpose of the logical reasoning section is to test the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical
arguments. It may include a variety of logical reasoning questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However,
visual reasoning will not be tested.

Maximum Marks: 200
Duration of CLAT-2019 Exam: 02:00 Hours
Multiple-Choice Questions: 200 questions of one mark each
Subject areas with weight-age:
English including comprehension: 40 Marks

Elementary Mathematics (Numerical Ability): 20 Marks
