ffective education is a learning experience.
Education brings a natural and lasting
change in one’s thinking and ability to do
things. Many people have a superficial concept
of education. It is compared to taking a particular
course or gaining a certain qualification.
However, qualifications and courses do not
always correspond to effective education. People
can take courses without significant permanent
change. People can achieve qualifications
without change.
Education is the process of accelerating learning
or acquiring knowledge, skills, values, morals,
beliefs, habits, and personal development.
Teaching methods include teaching, training,
storytelling, discussion, and purposeful research.
Education always takes place under the guidance
of teachers; however, students can also educate
themselves. Education can take place in a formal
or informal environment, and any experience that
has a formative influence on the way we think,
feel or act can be considered educational. The
teaching method is called pedagogy.
Formal education is often formally divided into

phases, such as kindergarten or pre-school,
primary education, secondary education, and
then college, university, or apprenticeship. In
most regions, education is compulsory until
a certain age.
Education consists of learning specific skills as
well as something less tangible but deeper:
giving knowledge, positive judgment, and
well-developed wisdom. Education has one
of the basic aspects of passing culture from
generation to generation. But, it is more of a
formal process of education and learning that
takes place around the school.
International education can be seen as
developing international-mindedness,
or enhancing international attitudes and
awareness. From an ideological perspective,
international education focuses on moral
development, by influencing the creation of
“positive attitudes towards peace, international

Billabong franchise in Kanpur, Priti Agarwal
has earned a prominent place amongst the

A lawyer, educationist and an entrepreneur, she
was the first woman to trade on the floor of the UP
Stock Exchange (Kanpur). Cutting her teeth in the
world of business managing her family’s business
and legal affairs, she was inspired by her daughter’s
progress at Kangaroo Kids, still in its early stages
in Bombay, and decided to take the concept
to Kanpur.
Making significant investments in developing

hildren’s brains develop rapidly during what is
called the critical period. The first occurs around
the age of 2 years, the second during adolescence.
While at this age, the number of connections (synapses)
between brain cells (neurons) double up. Two-year-olds
have twice as many synapses as adults. Because these
connections between brain cells are where learning
occurs, twice as many synapses enable the brain to learn
faster than at any other time in life. Therefore, children’s
experiences at this stage have a lasting impact on
their development.
This first critical period of brain development begins
around age 2 and ends around age 7. It provides a prime
opportunity to lay the foundation of holistic education
for the children. Four ways to maximize this critical
period include encouraging a love of learning, focusing
on breadth rather than depth, focusing on emotional
intelligence, and not treating young children’s education
as mere precursors to “real” learning is included.
By the age of 25 our brain becomes “lazy”. It is not that
our gray cells can no longer learn new things, but that
we rely on a set number of neuro pathways to carry out
our thinking. In other words, we get stuck in a mind
