The Atari 2600 (or Atari VCS before 1982) is a home video game console by Atari, Inc.Released on
September 11, 1977, it is credited with popularizing the use of micro processor -based hardware
and ROM cartridges containing game code, a format first used with the Fairchild Channel - F video
game console in 1976. This format contrasts with the older model of having non-
microprocessor Dedicated hardware, which could only play the games that were physically built into
the unit.

sheer popularity and name recognition.
THIS, my friends, is the game that

games that is as fun today as it was in
1979.

 There is no denying the fun and excitement of this classic 2600 game. No
game has been able to match the sense of wonder we all felt when we
were first chased by the red dragon. No amount of Kool-Aid would calm us
down when the bat stole the life-protecting sword. And nothing could ever
match the feeling of accomplishment when the enchanted chalice was
returned to it's rightful place in the gold castle.
 Adventure holds the distinction of being the first game with an Easter egg.
Finding the invisible dot and slipping through the black barrier became an
accomplishment for many an Atari player. Today, Easter eggs are a
requirement of video games.
 Thanks to the creativity and ingenuity of Warren Robinett, Adventure truly
is a memorable game worthy of being the greatest Atari game of all time.
