deified spirits of Emperor Meiji, the first emperor of modern Japan, and his Empress.
Yasukuni Shrine: Yasukuni Shrine is a Shinto shrine and commemorates those who have died while in
service of the Empire of Japan.
Sensō-ji: Sensō-ji is an ancient Buddhist temple and Tokyo’s oldest. It is the focus of Tokyo’s largest and
most popular festival, three-day Sanja Matsuri.

4. WEATHER
Tokyo, like most regions in Japan, experiences a humid subtropical climate with
hot and humid summers and mild winters with cool spells.
During the summer months, Tokyo is incredibly humid and has average highs of
29°C. May until September is also considered rainy season with a great level of
rainfall experience and often typhoons. June is the wettest month when Tokyo
receives more than 200mm of rainfall.
Winter temperature falls and January is the coldest month of the year with an
average low temperature of 2°C. The winter months can experience snow, with
January and February getting more than 5cm of snowfall.

Casual clothes are perfectly acceptable in Tokyo for sightseeing but the
Japanese enjoy dressing up. If you want to fit in with the crowd at
restaurants, jeans and shorts should be replaced for slightly formal evening
wear.
Remember to pack a pair of shoes that can easily be slipped off since it is
Japanese culture to not wear shoes indoors, so you might have to take them
off regularly.
The humidity can be high in the summer months so light, cotton clothing is
advisable.
Packing warm clothes is essential for the winter months and as snow can be
expected, gloves, scarves and warm hats should be considered.
