READING COMPREHENSION AND
             VOCABULARY
 The sentence has an underlined word or phrase .
There are four options under the sentence. Choose the
option that best suits the meaning of the original
word.
Vendors must have a license.

A)   everyone employed in food service
B)   everyone who drives a car
C)   everyone who works in a hospital
D)   everyone engaged in selling
People work in different places and in different ways
in order to earn their livelihood.

Chefs, managers ,waiters ,room -boys are all engaged
in the food service in hotels and restaurants.

Drivers and chauffeurs are engaged in driving cars.

Doctors and nurses work in hospitals.

We have a large number of people delivering services
to humanity at large.
A large number of people carry on the business of
selling different things at different places and in
different ways.
These people may be categorized as pedlars, hawkers
or sellers.
They are known as vendors. Vendors are therefore
known as people who sell anything and at any place
Vendors or sellers must have a license so that a tag can
be kept on the nature of goods sold and also to prevent
undue occupation of public spaces.
