I. Purpose
- Hospital staff acknowledge about the status of Ebola virus disease and the procedure of Ebola
virus prevention and diagnosis
- Hospital staff have correct reactions when admitting infected patients
- They know how to self-protect and self-control when treating infected patients.
- They know how to prevent the spread of Ebola virus to community.
- They know how to guide the infected patients how to control the spread of Ebola virus disease.

- Upon the patient’s admission, the doctor/nurse has to wear uniform and put on the safety
clothing as told before checking the patient’s vital sign or performing examination
2. - The doctor shall examine and provide diagnoses in accordance with the instructions given by

the Ministry of Health.
- The announcement of any Ebola cases has to be done according to regulations – making a
phone call to the top executive to receive instructions
- Preparing the isolation room:
The doctors & nurses shall change into safety clothing and open the isolation room.
The guard fixes up the barricade tape (warning tape).
Bring the patient to the isolation room and support him/her to change into safety

- Logistics:

- Sterilization:
After the patient leaves the emergency ward/ examination ward: immediately
sterilize the room & the patient’s clothes, change the bed sheet and sterilize the
equipment.

patient’s clothes, change the bed sheet and sterilize the equipment.
After the ambulance has delivered the patient: sterilize the ambulance

3. PROCEDURE OF ADMITING AND TREATING
EBOLA INFECTED PATIENT
When the patient is suspected to be Ebola-infected
- The examination ward shall inform the staffs at the isolation room about the admission and tell
the General Planning Dept. to announce the regulations.
- Doctors and nurses must put on safety clothing when coming to the isolated area.
- The patient is delivered to the isolation room and will put on apparel provided by the hospital
- The nurse provides care and keep track of the patient’s condition. Equipment used for each

patient must be separated.
- The doctor examines the patient’s condition and gives instructions. He/she must monitor the
patient carefully.
- The nurse shall follow the instructions and provide holistic care
- Avoid transporting the patient: X-tests and other tests must be carried out at the patient’s bed.
The specimen must be reserved in accordance with the regulations (packed in boxes) and after
that, sent to the Laboratory Dept.

- Medical staffs have to wear safety clothing when entering the isolated area, and dispose such
clothing when leaving
- When transporting the patient: the patient and the staffs must wear safety clothing
4. - Carefully practice cleaning routines and sanitation procedures, clean the surface twice day with
antiseptic and start cleaning immediately when such surface is stained or soiled.
- Collect the patient’s used apparel and put it into a yellow bag labeled “Ebola patient”
- The equipment used for the patient must be sterilized at the isolation room
