Kaein persuades Raffy to rob an old woman. When the villagers chase them, Raffy and Kaein jump into what they think is a flooded river to escape, but it is actually dry. They pretend to swim to trick the villagers. The villagers see them "swimming" in the dry riverbed and laugh instead of punishing them. This story gives the phrase "Don't go swimming in a dry riverbed" which warns against ridiculous acts to get out of trouble.
