Technology in the classroom: a list of resources

● www.prezi.com - online presentation creating website - very creative and fexible,
gets audiences more engaged and involved with the presentation.
● www.radiowaves.co.uk - podcasting/videocasting hosting website for schools and
young people - like a 'safe' facebook; everyone has to prove they are
● www.numu.org.uk - sister site to radiowaves but for music only; schools create a
'record label' to which they can 'sign' classes/groups of children - this could be
    useful for you anyway Pete,
● www.thinkuknow.co.uk - ceop's resource website for teachers/young people for
    safe surfing information
● www.ceop.police.uk - child exploitation and online protection centre.
● http://todaysmeet.com- backchannel forum (twitter) - could be good for a
    practical demonstration.
● www.qwizdom.co.uk - hardware/software audience response (classroom quiz)
    systems.
● www.promethean.co.uk - interactive whiteboard manufacturer
● http://www.smarttech.com- interactive whiteboard manufacturer/software
developer - I've seen these more often than Promethean boards)
●   http://www.wordle.com – creates word clouds from a website or a body of text;
makes more frequent words larger: excellent for summary and analysis.
● http://xmind.net - free windows mind mapping software, quite pretty, but very
    friendly.
● http://www.mindnode.com - mind mapping software (basic version is free) for
Mac, and iPad, plus soon an iPhone version.
● http://www.ted.com - ideas worth sharing. Some fantastic keynote speeches and
    presentations.
● http://www.polleverywhere.com - free text/twitter/sms fed polls (up to 30
responders for free) results can be embedded into live Powerpoint or keynote
    presentations
● http://www.vimeo.com - video hosting, including free basic storage and very cheap
high quantity ‘channels’ for schools. for goodness sake use this instead of YouTube,
it’s much higher quality and NOT BLOCKED BY NORFOLK COUNTY COUNCIL (partly
because I argued for it... I thank you)
