This document outlines goals and components of a grant to rebuild the school-to-career pipeline through connecting high school students to local farming. The grant would fund 4 summer student interns, a grant coordinator, teacher training, and materials for a pollinator garden. One intern's experience is described, where he gained skills in video production, marketing, and farmer's market evaluations while working with a local farm that mentors refugee farmers. Challenges discussed include liability, staffing, and ensuring the program aligns with district goals and promotes risk-taking. The overall aim is to provide hands-on experiences that develop students' confidence and expose them to refugee farmers as role models of grit and resilience.
