Ancient times: Camera obscuras used to form images on walls in darkened rooms; image formation via a pinhole 16th century: Brightness and clarity of camera obscuras improved by enlarging the hole inserting a telescope lens

1940 World war 2 World War II : Development of multi-layer colour negative films Margaret Bourke-White, Robert Capa, Carl Mydans, and W. Eugene Smith cover the war for LIFE magazine.
In the middle of 1900 1959: Nikon F introduced. 1963: First colour instant film developed by Polaroid; Instamatic released by Kodak; first purpose-built underwater introduced, the Nikonos
At the end of 1900 1983: Kodak introduces disk camera, using an 8x11mm frame (the same as in the Minx spy camera) First Adobe Photoshop being invented in the 1990
2000 2000 : Camera phone introduced in Japan by Sharp/J-Phone FAMOUS
