       TIGERS
 They eat small monkeys, zebra, deer, wild
boar, and once in a while tigers might eat
plants. To get their food they attack prey.
When a tiger finds prey they smell around to
see if any animals have been there. A tigers
sense of smell is much more powerful than
    humans.
 Tigers once lived through Asia but now live
only in Southeast Asia. The largest tiger
population is in India, but population numbers
    continue to decrease everywhere.
 Tigers have black stripes and they can be either white or
orange. Scientists think the stripes are for camouflage, and
no two tigers have the same stripes. A male tiger can weigh
500 pounds and be 10 feet in length. A female tiger can
weigh 300 pounds and be 7 feet in length.
 Tigers that live in cold regions are paler in
color and larger in size; their fur is long and
    thick.
 In warmer climates, tigers are smaller in size
and more colorful; they have shorter, thinner
    fur.
 Elephants
 Bears
 Large buffaloes

Tigers are very cautious and don’t like
to hunt elephants or larger animals,
unless it is very hungry, or if its cubs or
itself were attacked. Tigers are excellent
    swimmers and climbers.
 The main predator of the tiger is humans.
 They have been trapped, poisoned and hunted
only to protect livestock, but also for
sport, trophies, skins, and sources of traditional
    medical products.
 Superstition has surrounded tigers for
    centuries; their body parts.
 Necklaces of tiger claws are thought to protect
a child from "the evil eye“.
